The charming old village of Orton sits in a secluded position on the eastern fringe of the Lake District National Park. The area is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and beautiful scenery. Wainwright's famous coast to coast walk skirts the edge of the village. Above the village sits Orton Scar, a limestone hill, used in days gone by to warn the village of Scottish raiders and popular today with walkers. The village centre has a local pub serving good food, a post office/shop, tearooms and the famous handmade chocolate shop & tearoom. A lovely green surrounded by 17th and 18th Century cottages adds to its charm. There is a farmers' market in the village square on the second Saturday of every month.  The area is perfect for mountain biking and fell walking, with many local walks available. The region has much to offer with the Lake District National Park just a short drive away. The many delights of the Yorkshire Dales and the Eden Valley are within easy reach, while the Carlisle to Settle Railway is well worth a trip.

There is also a traditional village shop and Post Office where a warm welcome is guaranteed.  Orton has easy access to the motorway at junction 38 and within a 20 minute drive are Kendal, Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh, Appleby, Haweswater and Penrith.. 

The oil central heated and double glazed accommodation comprises: Entrance porch leading into the hallway to dining/kitchen equipped with electric oven and hob, washing machine and fridge, dining table chairs.  Lounge with open fire, colour TV with Sky digibox, video and CD player, and radio/cassette.To the first floor:  Family room with king size pine bed and single bed, colour TV and  superb views.  Double bedroom with a delightful aspect.  Bathroom comprises of shower cubicle, bath, hand basin and WC. Gardens to the front with a paved area at the rear. Private parking or two cars.
