Your booking can be made in 2 ways, you can call our friendly sales team on 017687 74060 who will be happy to help and advise you on the cottage that meets your needs. Or alternatively you can search and book via our website through our secure server.
The balance of your holiday is due 8 weeks prior to the holiday start date. Don’t worry we will send you a reminder 7 days before the due date with instructions on how to pay. If you are booking a holiday and it is less than 8 weeks to the start date, payment in full is required at the time of booking.
A deposit is required to secure your holiday with us. In most cases this will be £60 per bedroom per week and payable within 3 days of making a provisional booking, please see individual property details if an additional deposit charge is levied. If your holiday is due to start within 8 weeks from the date of booking, payment in full is required. See ‘How do I make a payment?’ on ways to pay.
We accept most credit/debit cards (there is a 2% surcharge on credit card payments) which you can use over the phone or through our secure website. Provided you are not booking within 10 days of your holiday start date you can send a cheque made payable to Cottage Holidays Carlisle Ltd, 2 Lonsdale Street, Carlisle, CA1 1DB or alternatively make a bank transfer to Clydesdale Bank, account number 20259519, sort code 82-70-24, it is important you use your booking number as the reference in order that we correctly allocate the money to your holiday.
Our cottages are all individually owned and payment is made in advance to the owner therefore we are not always able to make changes to your booking if it is within 8 weeks of the start date. If you need to change your booking in anyway please telephone us on 017687 74060, we will endeavour to amend your booking, but if payment has already been made to the owner we will be unable to amend the cottage or dates. Changes are subject to an administration fee of £36.
If you need to cancel your holiday, please telephone 017687 74060 in the first instance, this must be followed up with a letter to Cottage Holidays Ltd, 2 Lonsdale Street, Carlisle, CA1 1DB or by emailing [email protected], until we have received written instructions we are not able to accept your cancellation. If written confirmation is received before the balance due date you will lose the value of the deposit paid, cancellations within 8 weeks are subject to 100% cancellation charges.
You are not required to have cancellation protection however we always recommend you take out suitable insurance to cover your needs. Cottage Holidays Carlisle Ltd operate a ‘Cancellation Protection Scheme’ which offers peace of mind should you need to cancel your holiday unexpectedly. Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details and costs.
Some of our cottages do request a breakage/cleaning deposit, please see individual property details. These must be paid with the balance of your holiday and will be refunded to you no later than 7 days after departure. If there is a need to withhold some of the deposit we will advise within 72 hours of departure.
Our normal check in time is either 3pm or 4pm, all cottages must be vacated by 10am. Check in and out times for your cottage will be detailed on your booking confirmation.
As our cottages have guests departing the same day as you are arriving it may not be able to allow an early check in or late departure as we require the time to ensure the cottage is cleaned and any maintenance issues attended to prior to the next guests arrival. Out of season we may be able to accommodate early/late arrivals/departures but we can not confirm this until 2 days prior to arrival/departure. Please telephone us on 017687 74060 to request an early arrival/late departure.
Key instructions and directions will be sent by email with your booking confirmation. In the majority of cases these will be collected from the owner if they live close by or in a key box located at the property
Approximately 50% of our cottages accept dogs. Our dog friendly cottages are clearly displayed on our website, you are also able to search for a cottage by the number of dogs you have. Dogs are charged at £20 per dog per week and must be pre booked and paid for prior to arrival.
Bed linen is provided free of charge in all of our cottages. Some of our properties provide towels, some cottages have towels available to hire, please see individual property details to see if these are available at the cottage you are interested in. Our Keswick and Windermere office also have a supply of towels which can be hired if you are staying locally, these must be pre booked and paid for to secure availability, there is a £20 refundable deposit required for hiring these.
The majority of our cottages have a travel cot and highchair available to hire, please check individual property details. There is a charge of £10 and £5 per week respectively for the hire of these. Please note we do not provide linen for the cots and you must bring your own. Our offices in Windermere and Keswick also have these available to hire but as these are limited these must be pre booked and paid for, there is a £20 refundable deposit required for hiring these.
All of our cottages are strictly non smoking. The majority of our owners allow you to smoke in the garden, however some cottages on parks or in the grounds of hotels may have a strict no smoking policy, please telephone 017687 74060 to check before making a booking if you are unsure of the smoking policy.
