Karen

Office Manager (Keswick)

I have worked within the company for 17 years, both on the Estate Agents and with Lakes Cottage Holidays. The role I play is varied and no two days are the same, managing the Keswick office means I can be dealing with anything from taking on new cottages, arranging cleans, sorting out maintenance issues or advising our holidaymakers where to go for afternoon tea.

I remember as a child being taken by my parents to many different areas and attractions, we would jump in the car and drive with no planned destination. Now I love to visit the Western Lake District it is as beautiful as the main tourist hubs but less frequented.

Emma

Sales and Admin Assistant (Keswick)

I started working full time at Lakes Cottage Holidays 7 years ago. Since having my daughter Isla I now work part time in our busy Keswick Office doing a range of tasks including taking bookings and arranging housekeeping.

I love taking my daughter to feed the ducks in Keswick followed by a trip on the Derwentwater launch. No matter what the weather we always have fun!

Fiona

Sales and Admin Assistant (Keswick)

I have worked for Lakes Cottage Holidays for nearly 7 years and enjoy all aspects of the job especially giving advice on where to stay in our beautiful area.

In my spare time I enjoy going for long walks in the countryside especially the Wythop Valley near where I live.

Then there is nothing better after a long walk than a visit to a local pub usually either the Coledale Inn or the Pheasant Inn to relax and take in the atmosphere.

Sharon

Sales and Admin Assistant (Keswick)

I have worked for Lakes Cottage Holidays for almost 2 years having previously worked in banking for over 20 years. I have always been involved in Customer Service and love chatting to guests and helping them arrange their holidays.

I love to go walking in the Lakes with family. We particularly enjoy a walk around Derwentwater or Bassenthwaite Lake and finish off with a scrumptious Afternoon Tea, usually at the Armathwaite Hotel.

Lorraine

Sales and Admin Assistant (Keswick)

I moved to Cumbria over 10 years ago, after holidaying here. Now I have made my life here with my family and cannot think of anywhere else to live that has stunning scenery, amazing walks and there is always something happening, such as a jazz festival, film festival, words on the water etc.

My spare time is taken up with my children and we like to go to Thirlmere and walk through the woods with our dog. We like to go out in Keswick for a meal, usually Bar Metro, which is an American Diner serving great food at reasonable prices and small portions for the little ones.

Helen

I am a new member of the Lakes Cottage Holidays team and I am really enjoying my job making sure our guests have a great stay in the lovely lakes. I also help with the social marketing of the business and introduced the Lakes Cottage Holiday piggies, have you seen them yet?

I am originally from Kent and have enjoyed many family holidays in the Lake District and finally moved here 16 years ago. In my spare time I enjoy walking the fells, one of my favourite walks has to be Catbells followed by a pub lunch.

Sarah

Office Manager (Windermere)

My parents started Cumbrian Cottages when I was very young and I have been in training ever since. I started working within the company when I graduated university with a Masters Degree. I really enjoy getting round our cottages in the Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and South Lakes areas and meeting new owners, it is great to see a property you have taken on prove popular with our holidaymakers and get lots of positive reviews.

Recently engaged, my spare time is currently taken up planning my wedding to James who also works within the maintenance team.

Julia & David

Directors

As the former owners of Cumbrian Cottages we have been in the self catering cottage business now for over 30 years. We started Lakes Cottage Holidays in 2007 after having sold Cumbrian Cottages in 2003, we missed being involved in the marketing of our own cottages and had lots of requests from former owners and friends to help them with their cottages so it seemed the natural progression to start up again.

We have watched our 3 girls grow up around the business and their love has grown with them, with 4 grandchildren we now go bear hunting in the caves, hunting villains at the top of mountains and shark fishing in the lakes, great memories and more to be made.

Gail

Office Manager (Carlisle)

I have worked with David for 22 years and enjoy all aspects of the business. Until the birth of my son, now 8, I was full time, I now work within the business part time looking after our owners and updating our website.

My spare time is mostly taken up with my son and we both enjoy an active day in the Lakes. We can also be found exploring the farm parks around the area and visiting the zoos both at South Lakes and Bassenthwaite. We recently visited the Puzzling Place in Keswick and had great fun trying out all the optical illusions.

Sarah

Admin Assistant (Carlisle)

I have worked for Lakes Cottage Holidays for 6 years now. After having my children I returned to work part time. I am responsible for the owner admin at the head office.

My children and dog, Angel, keep me very busy, the kids have a better social life than me. Gail and I regularly meet up with the kids during school holidays, last year we enjoyed a lovely day out with a picnic at Mungrisedale, the kids had an amazing time and it did not cost us anything.

Rachael

Marketing (Carlisle)

After gaining a degree in contemporary applied arts where I specialized in interior textiles my next venture was actually working for my Dad and Uncle within our sister company Cumbrian Properties, having always worked for this company since I can remember it felt natural to want to go into the family business. I  was given an amazing opportunity over in Newcastle to open a student letting agency for a family over there, where I stayed for a few years. I absolutely loved the buzz of working in a city and student lets was very exciting, but I soon missed the Lake district and was able to move back to Carlisle where I managed long lets for Cumbrian Properties at the head office in Carlisle for some years. I was then given the chance to move ship and come work for Mum and Dad on the Cottages side.

The Lake district is our special family place so to be able to work here was such a blessing, its where we enjoyed our school holidays and fond family days out. It was inevitable I was always going to work for Dad, but if I didn’t enjoy it I would be doing it. Whether it be selling, renting, building, renovating or designing interiors it’s all I’ve known and I suppose it’s in my blood! I’m busy wife and mum to two kids Frankie and Beatrix. And I’m now enjoying taking my kids to see Peter rabbit, feed the ducks at Windermere, and walks round Grasmere – all where I had fond childhood memories.
