Birkside Cottage is not for the faint hearted, perched on the fell side on the banks of Mires Beck some 1 mile above Glenridding. Consequently it has superb views to the nearby fells from the upstairs rooms and from the master bedroom to Ullswater. The Lakeland stone, end terraced cottage is accessable by a steep, rough track for the last 300 meters. At some times of the year it is only accessable by "4 wheel drives" or a sturdy pair of walking boots!!

To the real Lake District outdoor enthusiast this is a cottage not to be missed with walking from your door across Birkhouse Moor to Helvellyn. For an easier stroll along the beck, back into the village of Glenridding on the northern shores of Ullswater, you can find a wealth of local amenities and savour the idyllic, serene qualities that this location offers.
