Boxtree is situated in the pretty Lakeland village of Dacre only a short distance from the shores of Ullswater. Ideal for anyone looking for a memorable holiday in the Lake District with a touch of luxury.
Dating back to the 18th Century, Boxtree is a beautifully renovated former farmers cottage which oozes charm and character and now provides cosy accommodation with a touch of luxury for one or two couples or a family. Original beams, stone niches and a wood burning stove combine beautifully with traditional antique and country style furnishings to provide a relaxing home away from home.
Dacre is located 5 miles west of Penrith and 1 mile north of Lake Ullswater. The village dates back to the 17th Century where the Saxons once had a monastery, the site of which is now home to the village church. The village has its own castle, now a private dwelling, and a pub dating back to the 18th Century where a warm welcome always awaits. The area is great for exploring, there are an abundance of walks from the door suitable for all abilities and the lake itself provides hours of fun, take a launch on the Ullswater Steamer, hire a boat, catch a fish or simply enjoy a picnic on the lake shore.
Boxtree is equipped to a high standard to cater for all your holiday requirements. The cottage has oil fired central heating and double glazing and comprises:
- Entrance through a sun lounge to the kitchen.
- Shaker style Kitchen with electric oven and halogen hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer and separate dryer.
- Drying room/cloakroom with hand basin, WC and ample space for outdoor gear.
- Breakfast/dining room.
- Lounge with beams, wood burning stove, wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player.
- First floor
- Beautifully furnished with coordinated linens.
- Master double bedroom with vaulted beamed ceilings, painted wrought iron double bed, traditional antique pine furniture and en-suite bathroom with deep roll top bath with claw feet, hand basin, WC and beamed ceiling with spot lights.
- Double bedroom with 6 foot zip link bed which can convert to twin beds (please advise at the time of booking if twins are required) and spacious en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC, this bedroom benefits from a rural outlook over the garden to Blencathra.
- All oil, electric, initial supply of logs, bed linen and towels provided.
- iPod dock, digital radio, CD player, maps and books, CD's, DVD's and games.
- Cot and highchair available.
- Private parking for 2 cars, plus on street parking.
- Lockable stone store ideal for storing bikes and outdoor equipment.
- Steps leads to a neat south westerly facing fully enclosed lawned garden with garden furniture, BBQ and distant fell views.

PLEASE NOTE There is a charge of £10 and £5 respectively to hire a cot and highchair per week. 2 dogs are welcome at a cost of £20 per dog per week. Cancellation Protection is available, please ensure this meets your requirements prior to adding to your booking. Spa Treatments in the comfort of your holiday cottage can be added to your holiday reservation. To ensure these are available for your holiday, these must be booked and paid in advance.

What a beautiful cottage and what a lovely welcome pack . You seem to have thought of everything . Amazing luxury bathroom ...... so welcome at the end of a long day fell-walking. We return to Bristol with our batteries re-charged and our souls refreshed. Only disappointment ..... we only booked one week! well be back.

Thank you very much for a really enjoyable stay at Boxtree prob the best cottage we have stayed in.The lemon cake + chocs were a real treat we took a piece with us each day to get us through walks(Seldom Seen,Glenridding/Dalemain+Dacre/Patterdale Silver Crag)to name a few. Great location for exploring the Lakes are beautiful in the Spring time - Lambs + daffodils everywhere! We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Boxtree, a very homely equipt cottage in a quiet location...just what we needed! The cottage is well situated for some great walks and we found the laminated maps very handy. A truly amazing cottage...we are sad to leave! The cottage itself is fabulous every amenity catered for, the decor and decoration is stunning and far exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable and especially cosy when the fire was lit. The locality was brilliant with local walks from the door that was steeped in history, it was local to all areas of the lakes. The information booklets were a huge help which allowed us to plan our outings efficiently. Just to say a very big thank you for our gifts and lovely note a very thoughtful. Boxtree cottage has been very enjoyable and very tastefully designed, to a high standard, I could have stayed longer. Boxtree is a very nice place to have our holiday enjoyment. Thank you! P.s. Boxtree cottage is a haven of peace and tranquillity, just the ticket after our long fell walks. We have all thoroughly enjoyed our week here, the weather was hot and sunny and we are returning home very relaxed with our batteries re-charged. Have really enjoyed out week long stay in this beautiful, well equipped cottage. Dacre itself is so lovely and quiet- with the added advantage of the handy pub! Very well appointed cottage-lovely. We greatly enjoyed our stay in Dacre. Great spot for visiting the North Lakes. The log burner was great. The maps and local information are first rate and made it easy for visiting places, walks etc.
