Amazing ambleside decribes this holiday beautifully! The apartment was superb; very clean and in a perfect location in the town. The property is approx three years old and is nicely furnished and well equipped. There is car parking, which once navigated proved to be a god send - especially when packing and unpacking. The public transport is excellent and the open top buses stop at the end of the road which can take you to Grasmere amongst other places.Nearby attractions which are a must are Hill Top (home of Beatrix Potter) and Dove Cottage (home of William Wordsworth) plus trips on Windermere, Coniston and Ullswater. The owners of The Retreat were very helpful and accomodating offering a free cooked breakfast on the day of departure. Excellent.
