Situated opposite Waterhead near the shores of Lake Windermere and at the base of Wansfell, this amazing 17th Century detached barn conversion offers stylish, contemporary 4* accommodation for 4 adults or a small family. The cottage has wood burning stove in the lounge, vaulted beamed ceilings, oak flooring throughout, garden for relaxing in, private parking and all of this is only a short stroll from the village centre.
Ambleside has a mixture of shops ranging from mountaineering and walking gear, galleries and gift shops, entwined with tea rooms, cafes and some of the best restaurants in the Lakes serving local produce. The village comes to life after dark, there is a vibrant mix of bars and restaurants or enjoy a relaxing evening at Zeferrilis cinema, there really is something for everyone in Ambleside. The village is surrounded by some of the best walking in the Lakes, Wansfell and Stockghyll Falls both easily accessible from the door, or jump in the car and within a short drive you will find the Langdale Horseshoe, Coniston Old Man and Skiddaw. Enjoy a different view whilst relaxing aboard a cruise on Lake Windermere and with the pier being only a short walk away, Bowness and Lakeside can be easily explored.

The amazing open plan living area with its original beams is absolutely breathtaking when you enter through the large barn door. The modern décor and luxury furnishings throughout combined with the mood lighting offer a soothing atmosphere where you can relax after a day out walking or enjoy a social evening with your friends. Three steps take you up from the large lounge with its sleek oak floors throughout the cottage to the fabulous raised kitchen/dining area with its slate floor, black marble worktops and range oven. You can step outside to one of 2 patios and enjoy a summer barbecue in the garden which backs onto the fields behind. Walk through the inner hall with a laundry room and you will find two stylish bedrooms with generous cupboard space and studio dressing tables along with the luxury bathroom.
The barn has electric under floor heating throughout and comprises:
- Sleek and stylish open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area flooded with light and beamed vaulted ceilings, light oak flooring.
- Lounge with wood burning stove, freeview TV, DVD player, selection of DVD’s and large modern paintings.
- The kitchen is equipped with electric Rangemaster oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and mirrored dining area to reflect the light with views through the kitchen doors to the garden beyond.
- Utility room with washer/dryer.
- Two double bedrooms with king size beds.
- Luxurious bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

PLEASE NOTE There is a charge of £10 and £5 respectively to hire a cot and highchair per week. 2 dogs are welcome at a cost of £20 per week per dog. AWARDS & ACCOLADES
Really lovely barn conversion, we have stayed in several cottages over the years in Ambleside as it is so well placed to hike, bike/ tour from, and its loaded with restaurants, hotels bars, shops & 2 very quaint cinemas , this barn is definately the best we have found so far, very comfortable beds / sofas, loads of wardrobe space, well equipped and clean. Nice little patio area outside. The traffic noise did not bother us at all, Ambleside is a buzzing little place so if you want total peace and quiet maybe its not for you . Short 10 minute walk into village and its many amenities. 3 minute walk to Waterhead where there is 2 hotels where you can eat and v.nice pub that serves food all day with great views of Windermere, you can also catch the boat over to Bowness from Waterhead . There is space for one car to park at the barn , but free parking is literally 10 feet away, weather was great while we were there, Oh and it also has WIFI . We shall be booking again for next year..
