Low Kiln Hill is a charming characterful cottage in a picturesque rural setting which is located mid way between Bassenthwaite Lake and the quaint village of Bassenthwaite, both only a short walk from the cottage. Bassenthwaite village sits a mile and a half from the Lake of the same name. Skiddaw rises dramatically to the northeast while Grisedale Pike and Whinlatter Pass add to the atmosphere westward. Chapel Beck flows through the village. Footpaths lead from the village to circular walks in the vicinity. There are far reaching views from the summits of the nearby fells. The market town of Keswick is only a ten minute drive here you will find many attractions and activities for all the family.
Low Kiln Hill retains many original features including beams to all rooms and a multi fuel burner which controls the central heating in the lounge. The cottage benefits from a large delightful garden with stunning views over farm land to the Skiddaw range, perfect for relaxing whilst taking in the scenery. The photos really don't do Low Kiln Hill justice! Spacious, clean, well equipped, cozy...the list is endless. There were six of us and two Labradors so space inside and out was critical, and we weren't disappointed. The gardens are well tendered with superb views up to Skiddaw and down towards Catsbell. Vicki (the owner) couldn't do enough; even to the point of putting up some temporary barricades in the rain to keep one of our dogs from picking all of the apples off the trees! Some of the reviews commented on the lack of shower but a new, permanent, one has now been fitted over the bath. One feature not shown in the photos is the kitchen - large, well equipped, large porch for muddy boots and the cleanest oven I have ever seen. If you are planning on staying in the North lakes then I would highly recommend Low Kiln Hill.
