This cosy traditional cottage is part of a group of 5 cottages close to Nenthead. Valley View Cottages are ideally suited for a large family or group of friends getting together within easy access of the Lake District, Pennines, Scottish Borders, Hadrian's Wall and Northumberland. In all an ideal place from which to explore the north of England.

Valley View Cottages are located 4 miles from Alston, the highest town in England and 1 mile from the former mining village of Nenthead. Just over a half hour drive is Penrith and nearby Ullswater the northern most lake. Hexham with its market town and abbey and of course Hadrian’s Wall are all easily accessible.

These aptly named cluster of five cottages sit in an elevated location enjoying panoramic views across the river valley to the surrounding countryside and to the nearby fells. For those seeking a tranquil hideaway in unspoilt countryside, these are the peaceful haven that you have been looking for. The former farm with 100 acres of grounds has been converted to provide 5 cottages that can sleep up to 34 people and they have used their wealth of experience of the self catering market to cater for your every need.

The cottages can be reached from Penrith, following the A686, listed as one of the “AA’s 10 best drives in the world”, alternatively from the north and the east travel alongside Hadrian’s Wall and drive through Alston, used to film Oliver Twist with Julie Walters and Michael Kitchen, and admire the cobbled streets and local shops. From the east you will drive through the old mining villages passing Killhope, a former lead mine that does underground tours, this is indeed an area of not only outstanding natural beauty but is steeped in history.

The cottages sit in 100 acres of grounds and are in three locations but within 200 yards of each other. Firstly the former farmhouse sleeping 14 people with adjacent children’s adventure playground. Sunrise is adjacent to the owners home, and 150 yards further down a steep tarmacadam driveway but still enjoying superb views are the cluster of three cottages; Nentside Barn, Writers Cottage and Ramblers Rest.

Valley View Cottages are ideally suited for reunion of friends, celebrations or family get togethers.

Retaining many of the original features this is a cosy cottage with stone flagged floors and sloping ceilings with beams.
