    • “A lovely family time”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “The apartment has everything you need for a family holiday - lots of space, with TVs and Wifi in every room. The views from the rooms are a bonus - the front of the house looks across the valley over Derwent Water and the back looks up the hillside of Skiddaw. We twice woke up to see deer in the back garden. The kitchen is well equipped with enough room for a large family to sit down and eat. We loved our trips out and explored the area - Dodds Wood and Whinlatter are a must for 'something for everyone' days. The walk to Keswick is easily done although the road beyond the pub and leisure centre has no pavement which is unnerving with little ones. A great time was had by us all and I can't fault the apartment for providing the environment you want after a day in the woods!”

    • “Wonderful and relaxing with lots to do for the children”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We have stayed here a few times and we never want more. The apartment is beautifully presented and the owners obviously care for it - all the utensils and equipment work! The views are breathtaking and the TVs in every room are a bonus when the children are tired. The sitting room is very cosy too! The grounds are extensive and the children love exploring them or playing bowles, miniature golf and badminton (the latter we bring ourselves).”

    • “our 8th return!”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “The fact that we've been to Somervell 8 times says it all really! Our four children say this is their favourite holiday destination. Nice and relaxing...very peaceful...well equipped kitchen...fantastically large garden that the children love complete with mini golf...clean and spacious. Hopefully we'll be back next year for visit number 9.”

    • “comfortable”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “Clean and tidy, well laid out. Plenty of room and enough crockery etc to start a restaurant Comfortable beds, both doubles with excellent views and nice en suites. Ample parking. One mile walk to the nearest pub, but very pleasant if the weather obliges.”

    • “Excellent location and apartment.”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “The apartment is in a very nice location and is very elegant - the WiFi was a very useful addition. We had everything we needed for a lovely Christmas holiday with three children (from toddler to teenage).”

    • “Extended Family Holiday”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We stayed in Somervell in July, and had the advantage of some of the best weather that is possible in the Lakes. Our group consisted of me, my wife, my son and his wife, and their two children. The property was the perfect size for us all with 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite) and a further bathroom. The large living room and good-sized kitchen/diner meant that we had plenty of space. The property is well and comfortably equipped. and the parking and access are good, with wide staircases and open hallways typical of a Victorian Country House. One of the best things about the property were the wonderful views, however these were slightly spoiled by the scaffolding that was present during our stay.”

    • “A well equipped apartment with wonderful views.”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We enjoyed all aspects of the accommodation apart from the fact that there was only one proper shower. The one shower was excellent, but the queue in the morning was disappointing,. The grounds were extensive and we enjoyed playing on the lawns. The abundance of TVs was a surprise. We didn't really enjoy the walk into Keswick but Skiddaw was much better.”

    • “Another great time in Cumbria”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “Our first stay here, weather was great apartment was very spacious and well equipped, but the showers in en-suite could be better and they need a screen or curtain. Nice gardens to wander around and a great location just far enough away from main road.”

    • “A great family location”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “We have visited Somerville every year for the past 6 years and we have never been disappointed. The location is perfect for the young family with plenty of space for the children to run around. Close to all amenities but far enough away to feel as though you are in the depths of the Lake District. The accommodation is spacious and sleeps 6 comfortably and reasonably well furnished and equiped albeit the shower could do with being replaced.”

    • “A beautiful property in a ravishing location”
    • tripadvisor rating
    • “Somervell is a large appartment in the building. It's airy and solid and well appointed. I would certainly return. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is that the picking up and returning the key arrangements are not good (a trip into nearby but busy Keswick - where there is nowhere easy and free to park is necessaary) Also, I think the agency should have ensured there was soap and perhaps shampoo in all the bathrooms, and washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets and detergent and washing up mops and brillo pads in the kitchen. We were warned towels were not provided - but I think they should be for the price.”

    • “It is a lovely apartment and larger than anticipated. Greta views and location which we knew about beforehand but still, the overall quality of these was definitely maximised. Very happy with the holiday, thank you.”

    Mr Dobson, LONDON, October 2018

    • “The only down point at this property was, we were told not to recycle our rubbish, but, to put it all in one bin, which incidentally, was not emptied during the week. Other than this, our stay at Somervell was excellent.”

Mr Stringer, High Wycombe, September 2018
