Keswick 8.8 miles. On the edge of the Skiddaw Fells in the Lake District National Park, north of Keswick is this charming cottage offering a homely abode to rest in while you explore the Lakes. Low Melbecks House is a home of 2 halves and provides both group and individual family accommodation, having the benefit of interconnecting doors you can book with friends and enjoy your own privacy if you prefer, it is wonderfully suited to two families or group of eight, with four bedrooms and spacious living rooms, you will love returning to this snug spot each day. A side entrance leads in to a modern country-style kitchen a harmonious space, with hues of creams and greys atop of stone tiled floors, and home to several appliances, a stair case leads to the first floor where you will find 1 twin bedroom and one king size bedroom along with a family shower room with shower cubicle, WC and hand basin. From the kitchen a few steps lead down in to a sitting room where can relax whilst the wood burning stove roars in the background. An interconnecting door leads from the lounge into the main entrance hallway of the house, this can be locked from either side to create privacy for individual party members or left open to enjoy a spacious family home The main house has reverse-level accommodation with two ground-floor king-size bedrooms, each complete with their own en-suite. Choose from an elegant bathroom with freestanding bath and a wet-room style shower or a shower room with WC and hand basin to prepare for your day in style. The interconnecting door leads from the hallway in to the lounge of the Cottage and a staircase leads from the House hallway to the first floor which is completely open-plan and benefits from a small Juliette balcony boasting stunning views of the fells. Indulge in the large corner sofa and have a quiet evening in front of the TV with a DVD player and Sonos speakers as an added bonus. The kitchen area is amply equipped with everything you could need to set you up for a holiday in the countryside whilst the large dining area has seating for 8 and all you need to cook up some delicious meals. Sit out on the patio furniture in the summertime for a refreshing drink or head into the external games room where a pool table and TV rest within the large glass panes. Low Melbecks House is perfectly placed for enjoying a host of attractions and magnificent fells or complete a walk up Skiddaw or Blencathra, visit the Castlerigg Stone Circle or amble around Bassenthwaite Lake, all providing glorious scenery of this unspoilt haven. Go to the Lake District Wildlife Park to visit over 100 species of animals within a 25-acre setting, or for adults take a tour around The Lakes Distillery and test some of the products found near the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake. A delightful property, providing quality accommodation for those who love the Lakes.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
