360 mile up the M5 and M6 from Plymouth into J40 Penrith. Loaded up our groceries; Penrith has an excellent choice. Up the A66 to and at the cottage in 10mins; easy to find. A very warm welcome from Moira who explained all the cottage facilities. Very clean, comfortable with good character features. Ideal for exploring the lake district. Go up the A66 and their are 3 main roads left into the lake district. Took a left for Seathwaite and Scaffel pike. Took another left for Ullswater and Windimere Took another left option for Thirlmere, Grassmere and Coniston. Go up the A66 11 miles to the lovely town of Keswick. Good shops, cafes and pubs.
