“A beautiful cottage in an amazing setting in a location perfect for exploring the Lakes.”

Great as a walking base. A well equipped cottage. Although very close to Keswick, the local pubs are well worth a visit and the village shop great for milk and bread etc. Unfortunately the television did not work, we did report this and help arrived but still no joy. Otherwise a great stay.

Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at Burnside and hope you return. The TV was revisited by the engineer and actually works perfectly. Someone had amended the ‘source’. He did mention you were happy with the smart TV facility and didn’t wish him to stay any longer. Thanks again. Property Owner

The property

Burnside Cottage perched in Braithwaite, Cumbria, is a charming, historic cottage. The cottage, which is one of the oldest in Braithwaite, offers a family or party of six excellent amenities, off-road parking, a charming garden, and local amenities just a stone's throw away; a prime location for exploring the Lake District National Park! Although much of the original character has been preserved, there are contemporary additions and homey decor throughout. The open kitchen/diner features exposed beams, a rustic table for six, and everything you'll need to prepare your favourite meals, including an electric oven, gas hob, and a coffee machine to get you going in the morning. A utility room with a fridge/freezer, washer and dryer, and a ground-floor shower room are also available on the ground floor, ideal for freshening up after rural walks and mountain hikes! Find the delightful sitting area with a bay window, gorgeous wooden beams, leather seats, and a Smart TV with DVD player for evening entertainment when it's time to unwind. On colder nights, make sure to light the open fire for added ambience! Climb the traditional spiral staircase to find three welcoming bedrooms; you'll enjoy sipping your morning coffee on the master bedroom's balcony with views of Skiddaw, while the second double has storage space and a window seat, and the twin is furnished with blue tones and a bedside lamp. Make a bubble bath or take a shower in the family bathroom before pulling on your pyjamas and catching your rest. Outside, a lovely garden with a babbling brook, summer house, and outdoor seating awaits, so why not crack open a bottle of bubbly and relax in the evening sun? If you fancy a break from the kitchen, a stroll through Braithwaite's village will lead you to the Royal Oak tavern, Ivy House Restaurant, as well as a convenience store for the essentials. The lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, trekking up Grisedale, Skiddaw, or Blencathra, and a delightful bridleway along Newlands Beck are just a few of the surrounding walks and outdoor activities. With miles of cycling and walking trails, a cafe, a play park, and a 'Go-Ape' high ropes course in the forest canopy, Whinlatter Forest is a must! Explore further afield to places like Keswick, where you can visit the Derwent Pencil Museum, Castlerigg Stone Circle, and Theatre By The Lake for a fun day out. Cockermouth, Ambleside, and Windermere are all within easy driving distance for a taste of Lakeland life, gorgeous walks, and lots of outdoor pursuits to enjoy your surroundings. Burnside Cottage is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for a traditional Lake District cottage.
