The property

Lying in the village of Brigham, close to Great Broughton and Cockermouth in the Western Lake District, is the charming cottage of Hotchberry.

Sleeping up to four guests in two double bedrooms, Hotchberry is a perfect choice for two couples seeking a peaceful break within easy reach of the Lake District and the Cumbrian coast.

Be welcomed into this stylish and contemporary property, which rests within a small close of four houses, hang up your coat and leave your boots in the porch, passing the convenient cloakroom as you enter the lovely warm and welcoming living/dining room, perfect for relaxation after exciting days exploring the outdoors, with a large sofa and an armchair to relax on, as well as Freeview TV to entertain.

Walk through the lounge and discover a fabulous kitchen with a lovely breakfast island, with a host of excellent quality appliances for cooking up a delicious meal and a handy dishwasher and washing machine.

Grab a book from the shelf in the living/dining room and take it into the wonderful conservatory along with a hot drink, perfect for a rainy day, you can enjoy peaceful moments here, with the colorful decor providing ample privacy when you want it.

Spend time out in the spacious patio garden to the rear of the property, ideal for dining alfresco in the summer months when the weather is good, you can find outdoor dining furniture to make use of!

When you're ready to retire for the day, discover two charming bedrooms upstairs, both home to double beds, with the larger of the two boasting a lovely walk-in wardrobe for your things.

Following your rest you can wake up to a refreshing shower in the sparkling bathroom, with a heated rail to keep your towel toasty, or indulge in a relaxing soak in the tub!

Delight in heading out on riverside strolls from your doorstep, with the River Derwent close by along with the neighbouring village of Great Broughton where you will find all the essentials for a self-catered stay, including three friendly pubs and a village shop with a Post Office, whilst Brigham is home to a local outdoor activity organiser, Ghyll Scrambling, with this unique sport using a variety of techniques to work your way up or down a river, including swimming, ropes, abseiling, and jumping into plunge pools!

Brigham is also on the doorstep of the Workington to Low Lorton leg of the Coast to Coast and is a fabulous location to cycle explore the Northern Lakes.

Visit the charming town of Cockermouth to discover the National Trust Wordsworth House and Garden, home of the famed poet featuring original period details with guided tours telling a history of his life.

Plenty more shops and restaurants lie here too, whilst a wealth of walks can be enjoyed within the stunning Lake District, with Watch Hill being just inside the borders, and nearby resting at the head of Bassenthwaite Lake is the popular attraction of Alpacaly Ever After, a wondrous activity walking alpacas through the scenic Lakes landscape.

Heading west will bring you to the Cumbrian coast, following the River Derwent to where it meets the sea in Workington, home to the Helena Thompson Museum reflecting on the history of the area, while lovely beach walks can be had at Harrington Marina and along the Solway Coast.

Great Broughton is a quaint village resting in the Cumbrian Borough of Allerdale and the civil parish of Broughton. Home to a Post Office with village store, three pubs and a Royal British Legion branch, it has all you need and more for a self-catered stay near the Lake District. Sitting amongst the River Derwent, there are plenty of scenic walking routes within the local area, with both coastal footpaths and rich terrains available all around.
