The property

The Shieling is a charming one-bedroom cottage located in the heart of Keswick, Cumbria.

One of the best locations within Lake District National Park and near the owner’s home, The Sheiling is a wonderful retreat for a couple searching for a peaceful getaway in one of the country's most beautiful places.

The well-equipped kitchen, complete with an electric double oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and a convenient dishwasher, welcomes you into this open concept living space, here you can prepare delicious meals for your loved one, dine at the table for two as you pop open a bottle of fizz and toast to a wonderful holiday.

During the warmer months, take advantage of the weather by preparing a BBQ dinner and relaxing in the enclosed garden.

As the evening grows darker, snuggle up on the sofa with your other half and select a much-loved film from the TV.

Prepare for an exciting day of exploration by soaking in the tub with your favourite book or taking a relaxing shower before catching your rest in the king-size bed.

For a night off from the kitchen, head to the town centre, where you'll find a wide variety of bars, restaurants, and cafes for you to choose from.

Take a look at the fascinating Keswick Museum and the Derwent Pencil Museum, or if history isn't your thing, check out Puzzling Place for some mind-bending illusions and intriguing artworks.

If you're looking to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, the Keswick Adventure is just a short drive away and provides a wide range of activities, including canyoning and kayaking.

Treat your loved one to night at the Theatre by The Lake for a fantastic date night that includes a live performance and drinks in the bar.

Derwent Water, just a short drive away, is a haven for watersports enthusiasts, with canoeing, kayaking, and windsurfing among the activities available.

The National Trust's Derwent Island and House, a magnificent Grade II-listed 18th-century house, can be found in the heart of the lakes.

Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve is just a short distance from your doorstep, and the peaks of Skiddaw and Watch Hill are just a short drive away if you're looking for a little more challenge.

A wildlife park with over a hundred different species of exotic animals can be found nearby as well.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
