“Warm comfortable clean tidy cottage, small outside garden, terraced and well kept, good sized rooms, comfortable beds, iron, logs for log burner, books and games, home from home.”

25 minutes drive to Beautiful Buttermere, totally recommend for walk and lakes/ waterfalls. Ideally situated, lovely lady, totally recommend.

The location was great and made it so easy to visit all parts of the Lakes. We had a very warm welcome from Judith. The accommodation was very tastefully decorated and the kitchen was well equipped. We wished we could take the sofa home with us - it was so comfortable! We were worried about one of the reviews that said there weren't any blinds in the velux windows but that has been sorted now. There were also spare pillows, blankets and towels available. Judith has a superb green finger so the garden was just beautiful. It may be worth investing in some outdoor furniture as I know we would have utilised it more if there were somewhere to sit. Overall a brilliant stay and I can't recommend it enough! We'll definitely be back for another stay!

The property

The Hayloft Cottage is a characterful Cumbrian Cottage, situated in the quaint village of Eaglesfield near Cockermouth.

The less frequented areas of the National Park including, Buttermere, Crummock and Loweswater are all within very easy reach. The village of Eaglesfield is situated in rural surroundings close to the beautiful lakes of Loweswater, Buttermere, Crummock and Ennerdale.

Ennerdale is one of the most westerly of the lakes and is off the main tourist track making it a truly peaceful and beautiful lake to visit.

The market town of Cockermouth is only a short drive away and is famous for its connections with the poet William Wordsworth. The Hayloft is a characterful cottage which has been furnished and equipped to a very good standard, retaining many of the original features including exposed beams and stonework.

The cottage has a delightful terrace garden to the rear with patio area and raised lawned garden with mature boarders. The gas centrally heated cottage comprises: Open plan lounge/diner with under floor heating beneath oak flooring, wood burning stove, TV, DVD player and dining area. Kitchen/diner with under floor heating under a tiled floor.

Range style electric oven with gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, wall mounted TV and dining table. Utility room with washing machine. Cloakroom room with WC and hand basin. First floor: Master bedroom with king size bed. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Large spacious family bathroom with shower cubicle, bath, hand basin and WC. All gas, electric, bed linen and a basket of logs included. Cot and highchair available. Private parking for 2 cars. Outside patio area and raised lawn area. Free Wi-Fi available. PLEASE NOTE That due to the design of the garden small children must be supervised at all times.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
