“Only one minor negative issue, all else OK.”

Reported to owner that Internet connection kept dropping out for the whole evening, every evening. Worked during day, not in the evenings. Small improvement in the last few days, but still dropping out.

The property

Nestled in the beautiful Vale of Lorton is 1 High Armaside Cottage, a charming character cottage perfect for a family getaway in the Lake District.

Step through the front door into a welcoming entrance hall.

Discard your hiking boots, heading into the lounge complete with original beams and cosy country décor.

Recline on the sofa with your feet up, while being warmed by the wood burning stove.

Further down the hall is the modern slate-tiled kitchen, offering everything you need to whip up a tasty meal.

A couple of stairs up from the kitchen you will find the dining room, from which you can enjoy a more formal dining experience.

The bathroom can also be found on the ground floor, while the three bedrooms are up a flight of stairs.

The property offers two king-size doubles and one single bedroom.

Outside the property you can enjoy the wonderful local wildlife and nature from the pleasant garden.

Relax on the patio area, tucked away behind an old outbuilding yet offering sweeping views of the Vale of Lorton.

A short distance from the cottage is the market town of Cockermouth, offering shops, pubs and plenty of eateries, as well as the family home of William Wordsworth – a popular visitor attraction.

The Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve is also close by, a great place for walking.

About the location

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
