    • “We had a fantastic time staying here. From the easy check in process, being personally shown to our lodge and flowers, wine and a welcome card the whole first impression is great. The lodge is ample for 4 of us - beautifully furnished and with all facilities provided. I was expecting the place to feel slightly overcrowded and 'holiday camp' but actually, whilst clearly popular, the site was very relaxed, quiet and plenty of space. There was a very good children's play area which I felt very happy letting my 3 go off to by themselves. There is no swimming pool, pub or on site entertainment but the kids were well occupied and made their own fun. Pooley Bridge is a 5 min walk away and there is a fab outdoor pool in Askham, a 10 min drive away. We are returning next year - its the nicest and friendliest family holiday we have had.”

Regional Information

POOLEY BRIDGE Penrith 6 miles. The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
