    “Needs updating especially the kitchen,very tired.”

    Utensils and pots and pans are very grubby.welcome pack and info on bins,heating instructions,cooker instructions etc.small things like extra bin bags and tea towels required. Excellent location and parking a big plus and really enjoyed our stay here.would book again if brought up to date

The property

Nestled in the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere, in the beautiful Lake District National Park, is this superb cottage. It lies in a charming house that dates back many years and touches of this history can be found throughout the property. Entering the property, you will be greeted to a hallway where you can kick off your boots and hang your coats, before entering the contemporary dwelling. Spend your evenings relaxing in the open-plan living space with plenty of furniture to relax and unwind and a feature fireplace for historic decoration. The dining table has seating for six guests and is the perfect spot for gatherings over a hearty breakfast or a delicious evening meal. Walk through to the kitchen which is well-equipped with everything you could need for a week-long stay in the countryside. Upstairs, you will discover three bedrooms, two doubles and one bunk room, supported by an en-suite shower room in the master bedroom and a family bathroom with a lovely corner bath, ideal for the ultimate relaxation. At Bowness-on-Windermere you will be well-placed for accessing a number of their traditional pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, whilst their independent shops and supermarkets are ideal for picking up any last-minute essentials. Being only a few minutes’ walk from the beautiful Lake Windermere, you can enjoy an afternoon sailing or fishing or even kayaking. The World of Beatrix Potter is an ideal attraction for your little ones to explore the grounds and spot the characters from her books. For literature lovers, travel towards Dove Cottage and he Wordsworth Museum, rich with history and memorabilia inside, so you can see how the famous poet once lived and his cottage garden he planted with his sister Dorothy. Use 1 Queens Square as your base for exploring the very best of the Lake District.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and 'Go-Ape' adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
