“We enjoyed our stay at bluebell hill, the rooms were clean and comfortable the galley kitchen is well equipped the beds were comfortable although it is difficult to find a mattress that suits everyone.”

There was a little noise from the pub across the road but wasn`t a nuisance. The location is excellent just a few steps at the side of the apartment and you are in the town. The takeaway fish and chips across the road are worth a try too. There was no chained parking spaces as advertised so anyone could use the space available which was a problem.

“Excellent location in the middle of town.”

Didn’t spend much time in the apartment as we were out a lot however it was a a good base. The owner should replace the bedroom curtains with thicker ones or a blackout blind, I noticed someone else mentioned this in another review. The bed wasn’t very comfortable so we didn’t sleep particularly well all week with the combination of the two things.

“Stayed here for two nights.”

Brilliant location, straight out onto the main road opposite The John Peel Pub and next door to Beatrix Potter. Great little flat, just what you need for a weekend away. The only negative would be the shower, it was hot then freezing, couldn't seem to get it right and a comfortable heat. Would stay again.

“The floor throughout the apartment was very dirty and had not been swept and mopped.”

The bathroom floor had been mopped but there was black hair in the shower and on the floor. The shelves and surfaces were also dusty and the apartment had a musty odour

“The apartment is lovely and well equipped.”

The kitchen area is compact but ok as long as theres not more than one of you in there at a time! Parking was as issue. Private parking was advertised but there are not enough spaces for the number of flats it services and there were a few occasions when we went out we couldn't get back in and ended up parking on other roads in the town. This was the only downside but was a disappointing inconvenience when you expect parking to be available.

“The mattress on the double bed could do with a mattress topper or change of mattress as the bed was not conducive to a good nights sleep.”

Apart from this everything else was great especially the closeness to the town and lake. Good few days break!

“On entering the apartment it was extremely cold and had a musty smell.”

It would have been a nice touch if the heaters had been left on low as we had been given a time to arrive at the apartment. The apartment is heated by storage heaters so took a long time to warm up. The pull cord in the bathroom for the light and fan was broken off. The bedding was extremely uncomfortable, the sheets and pillowcases were very rough, the duvet was thin and had no warmth, luckily I managed to find a throw to put over the top, I spent the second night on the settee in the lounge area with a throw but unfortunately my daughter had to spend the night in the bedroom. After reaching under the settee to find something I had dropped I was surprised to find thick dust under there. Although we were booked in for three nights we left early the next morning, we would have left the night before but my daughter who was driving and had a drink so we had to stay. I have booked with Sykes on previous occasions and have never had problems with any of my previous bookings. We were really looking forward to spending Christmas in the Lake District, my daughter hasn't been before so it was going to be an enjoyable time for us. I feel I have paid a lot of money for a place that didn't meet up to any of my expectations.,

“The apartment is in a very convenient location in the middle of Bowness, so close to the shops, bars cafes and restaurants.”

It also has a residents car park. The apartment was nicely furnished and very comfortable for our midweek break and had everything in that we needed.

“THIS APARTMENT WAS IN AN IDEAL LOCATION BUT APARTMENT WAS NOT VERY WELCOMING.”

BEDROOM WAS DUSTY AND CURTAIN WAS HANGING OF RAIL . WHEN I GOT GRILL PAN OUT IT WAS FULL OF CRUMBS. OR I HOPE THEY WERE CRUMBS. THERE WAS A DVD PLAYER BUT NO DVDS AND NO COMMENT BOOK.WE HAVE USED SYKES BEFORE AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM

Some of the areas most scenic walks are easily accessible from Bowness.

A short ascent up Gummers How will reward you with stunning panoramic views or cross the lake by ferry and enjoy a waterside walk to Wray Castle.

Exploring further afield is easy as the village has good bus connections to other Lakeland villages or by car you are only a mile from the A591 which is the main route into the Lake District and Windermere (1 mile away) has a train station.
