The Property

Secret Retreat is a studio-style apartment nestled away in the village of Bowness on Windermere. This hidden gem makes the ideal base for a romantic getaway for two people with everything you will need to make your stay an unforgettable one. Upon entering the property, you will be welcomed into a luxuriously appointed open-plan studio, with a double bed and a cosy seating area, perfect for sitting back and enjoying your favourite programmes on the 50 inch TV. A Firestick and wifi are available to browse the web for new films. The bathroom is well-appointed, featuring a walk-in shower, hand basin and WC. Completing the space is a well lit kitchen, housing all the necessities you will require to rustle up a home cooked meal. Outside you will be able to enjoy a glass of wine on the dwelling’s private patio area.
Just 5 minutes’ walk away is the bustling centre of Bowness with all manner of shops and restaurants with something to suit everyone’s tastes. To keep you busy whilst in the area, why not take a relaxing lake cruise from Bowness Bay over to the Lakeside Pier? From there you can enjoy a trip on the Heritage Railway, afternoon tea at the Lakeside Hotel or delve into the mysteries of the Lakeside Aquarium. If it is adventure you’re looking for then Secret Retreat is a perfectly placed base from which to explore the surrounding lakes and mountains. The footpath to Orrest Head is an excellent ramble that slowly unveils sweeping views of the surrounding fells. The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away.
