    “The request that the heating be left at 12 degrees meant that for the first 24 hours the cottage was uncomfortably cold.”

    Thank you for your feedback. We can only apologise for your experience we do not want it to be uncomfortable. We have recently upgraded the heating system to the hive system and obviously need to review the instructions as our intentions are to have a warm and welcoming property. Property Owner

The property

The Heights is a wonderful stone-built property set in the bustling town of Bowness-on-Windermere, with convenient access to the Lakeland Dalesway.

This charming mid-terrace house has a pleasant interior and sleeps up to four people, making it ideal for exploring the wonders of this National Park.

Step inside to discover he kitchen/diner on your right, where you can prepare your home-cooked meals using the electric oven, induction cooktop, microwave, and fridge/freezer.

After supper, relax in the sitting area, which features two sofas and a woodburning stove, as well as a television to watch your favourite shows.

Upstairs, you'll find two beautifully decorated bedrooms, one a double and the other a twin, both with magnificent views of the surrounding region and Jack-and-Jill access to the family bathroom, where you can relax with a long soak.

When the weather permits, stroll outside and take a seat in the garden, toasting to a long-awaited holiday while taking in the tranquilly of this secluded environment.

Brantfell walks, which delve into the Dalesway, are accessible from the front door, and are ideal for an afternoon ramble with your canine companion!

Alternatively, take a stroll down the hill to Bowness, which boasts a plethora of bars and restaurants, shops to peruse, and fascinating things to see, such as the World of Beatrix Potter, the 1920's Royalty Cinema, and The Old Laundry Theatre.

Take the passenger ferry over to Grizedale Forest and explore rugged trails that are excellent for mountain biking and walking, or head to the lake and enjoy a wide range of watersport activities like boat trips, sailing, canoeing, paddleboarding, and waterskiing while taking in the spectacular views of England's largest natural lake.

Alternatively, cruise up to Ambleside on the Lakeland Steamer or down to Lakeside and the Haverthwaite steam line on the Lakeland Steamer.

The Heights provides a great base to return to each evening, whether you're looking to relax or go on an adventure.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
