    “Tanderra is a very comfortable and clean up-together property with sufficient mod cons.”

    It has a wonderful view, possibly the best in Coniston, and there are some great walks straight from the door. The town is only five minutes walk away if you are reasonably fit. The balcony is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. I would highly recommend it subject to a couple of points : access is tricky, large cars would have difficulties getting up the steep narrow lanes to it. We have a Ford Focus estate and managed OK but anything bigger could have problems. Also there is no ...

We have a Ford Focus estate and managed OK but anything bigger could have problems. Also there is no external storage for bikes, access to the back garden is through the house and down the balcony steps.That said, we had a lovely time there and were sorry to leave.

The property

Tanderra is a terraced cottage based in Coniston, Cumbria.

It was a former miners' cottage which has been renovated to further display its elevated position and the surrounding lake and countryside views.

It is a wonderful property for a romantic holiday break.

Internally, there is an open-plan living area.

The lounge has a contemporary decor with a range of comfortable seating facing the large TV.

Settle down for a relaxing night in with your loved ones and enjoy the benefits of the open fire, guaranteed to make you feel warm and cosy.

The dining area has seating for up to four people, perfect for some early morning breakfast.

Though small, the kitchen is housed with all the appliances you could possibly need, from light cooking to large home-cooked meals.

The property has two bedrooms: one super king-size and one twin, ideal for small families or two couples.

Outside has a balcony with a small table and chairs overlooking the expansive countryside and distant lake.

Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Coniston is a beautiful area with a thriving economy based on sightseeing, lake cruises, water sports, mountaineering, horse-riding and the consumption of locally brewed real ale!

Further afield is Dove Cottage and Wordsworth Museum, which has guided tours to show where Wordsworth lived and some of his work and its pretty cottage garden.

You will discover the greatest collection of the Wordsworths' letters, journals and poems in the world.

Kids can pick up a quiz to help them explore.

Tanderra is the ultimate holiday destination.

Hawkshead 4 miles; Ambleside 8 miles.

Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing.
