“Two Lake View is an absolutely lovely cottage, with fantastic views of the lake (as the name implies!”

). And the cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard. As holiday cottage owners ourselves, there are a couple of things I would like to share with the owner. When I took my first shower on our second day of being there, I noticed some quite horrendous damage that had somehow occurred in the shower room. One of the recently tiled walls looked like it had received a huge impact that had cracked the tiles from floor to ceiling, and horizontally from corner to corner. If a guest had done this to our property I would have been distraught. I noticed this damage on the Sunday, and I couldn’t stop from worrying if the owner was aware of this damage. It was not easily noticeable, so I wanted to be assured the owner was aware. We looked for a contact number for Sykes, or the owner, but these were classed as for emergency only. We didn’t consider this an emergency. We found the WhatsApp details, which we tried, but it came back that the message was not received. I would like to see a telephone number, or email address for general enquiries like this. We couldn’t find one. After a couple of days, I stopped worrying, assuming that the owner was aware because it would have been picked up by the efficient changeover team. And I realise we are quite elderly, but we still find microwaves quite useful. For making a cup of milky cocoa before we go to bed, for example. ;). But on the whole, a lovely cottage that we would be proud to own ourselves. And we can see there is still work in progress to make a lovely seating area with views over the lake. Top class. Kind regards, Colin & Caroline.

The property

A contemporary refurbishment of a mill dating back to 1800, Two Lake View is one of four converted cottages, boasting views of Coniston Water. Set at the head of the lake in the village of Coniston, this property would be perfect for a family looking for a lakeside holiday full of fun activities, or a reunion of friends passionate about walking and the outdoors. Entering the property through the front porch, here you can take off your wet coats if you've been caught in a shower, and head into the kitchen/diner where you can light up the woodburning stove. Warm yourself by the fire while hot drinks are made, and with underfloor heating as well you are sure to be toasty warm in no time. When you are all walked out, take the weight off your feet and sink into the inviting sofas and put the TV on for some relaxing down-time. With patio doors leading to some outdoor furniture with views overlooking the lake, if it's a sunny day you can spend your afternoon here with a good book, or maybe a glass of wine and some good company instead. When evening turns to night, head upstairs to the wonderfully presented bedrooms, decorated in serene colour choices of creams, greys and hints of green, they create the perfect environment for drifting off. There is a master king-size bedroom with windows looking out to the water, another king-size and a single, served by a bathroom and a shower room, so they're shouldn't be too many queues in the morning. Two Lake View is conveniently situated on the outskirts of Coniston village, and is only a few minutes walk from all of its amenities including two pubs, a restaurant, a fish and chip shop and a shop for your essentials. There are walks from the door up to The Old Man of Coniston and Wetherlam, or choose some easier rambles around the lake on the footpath. You can hire a boat to see the beautiful surroundings from the water, or go a bit more adventurous and try some paddleboaring. Two Lake View is a stunning property in a great location for enjoying all there is in the Lake District.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
