“The apartment is at the top of a very steep incline.”
You would need to be extremely fit to walk back up but the views are outstanding.
You would need to be extremely fit to walk back up but the views are outstanding.- Mr Nicol, October 2020
“Lovely cottage, very cosy, had everything we needed, and furnished to a high standard.”
The information provided before arrival was helpful and made the place easy to find. The view over Morecambe bay was an absolute highlight - worth getting up to see sunrise every morning! Also really enjoyed the position of the house - loved being within easy walking distance to Grange-over-Sands, with its excellent butchers and bakery, interesting shops and promenade. We liked being able to go for walks in the local area without needing to use the car every day, and it was an easy drive to the areas around Windermere and Conniston for bigger days out walking. The only suggestion we would like to make for improvement is that all the knives in the kitchen are very blunt - so much so as to make chopping anything pretty difficult!- Miss Falconer, October 2020
“This beautiful apartment is so well positioned in.”
Grange. The views over the bay are magical. We have never felt so relaxed anywhere in the world. The only good thing to come out of covid is us choosing to have our holiday here and not travel abroad. I do hope we can return next year.- Mrs Hall, September 2020
“Corner cottage is a wonderful place to stay.”
It was very accurately described.the views are as wonderful as described abd the communication from the owners very good indeed. The booking and instructions was easy and efficient as always .- Ms Casey, September 2020
“Huge light airy rooms with fantastic views across the bay and so much space to relax in.”
Well equipped modern kitchen and shower room. Downstairs bedroom opens onto lovely garden patio. Lots of nice touches in every room to make it feel like home. Everything was spotlessly clean and the owners live nearby so available to answer any questions or pop over. Quiet residential road up a very steep hill, near to local walks. Easy parking right outside. One of the best places I have ever stayed and a great base for touring the lakes.- Miss Rayment, September 2020
Fantastic views- Ms Grant, July 2020
Spacious- with a large, comfortable living room-and similarly large separate dining room. The whole property was immaculate and very well maintained and well equipped. The views are amazing - in all weathers. Grange is a good location - convenient for the South Lakes ( c25 mins to Windermere) with a good range of quality independent retailers, good amenities and excellent eating places.- Mr Twigg, February 2020
“The house is lovely with fabulous views.”
Nice starter pack. This accommodation has everything you need. We will definitely recommend it.- Mrs Irvine, January 2020
“Fantastic cottage, great views, very clean”- Mr Marson, September 2019

All round perfect- Mr Marsden, August 2019
“Immediate reaction so positive to the superb location and spectacular views Quality of the beds and furnishings exceeded expectations .”
All was pristine .a high standard of cleanliness . The master bedroom opening onto the terrace overlooking the bay was top of the range .The garden a joy with flowers and flowering shrubs and fragrant plants ..a photo opportunity . We found a well equipped kitchen with the fine fittings in the most comfortable homes .and finally a great modern shower . We had a most satisfactory stay and a great happy holiday enjoying the nearness to the beautiful South Lakes . Thank you Sykes .- Mrs Thomas, July 2019
“One of the best accommodations we have stayed in.”
Clean, comfortable, modern, lovely gardens, easy parking. THE VIEW IS AMAZING! Would definitely go back. Thank you.- Ms Christian, July 2019
“We only had a few nights stay but wish it had been much longer.”
The cottage was simply wonderful and completely surpassed our expectations. We were only able to fully appreciate the most awesome views from the lounge and dining room on our first day. The weather closed in for the other two days but what a delight it was to return to such a fabulous, cosy and amazingly well equipped home. We call it home because that is what it felt like. Thank you.- Ms Beach, May 2019
“This was a beautiful property which was very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable.”
The views from the sitting room and dining room were wonderful. we had some teething problems with the heating during an unexpectedly chilly stay but the very friendly owners were very prompt in dealing with it. Grange-over-Sands is an extremely hilly area and fortunately we are still able to tackle the steep walk up to the property from the town centre. The reward was, of course, the stunning views and we were happy to leave the car and get the extra exercise.- Mrs Gibson, May 2019
“Lovely comfortable holiday cottage in an ideal location with the most magnificent view!”- Mrs Errington, April 2019
“A very clean and comfortable holiday cottage”- Mr Holden, March 2019
“One of the best cottages we have stayed in, roadside parking was never a problem.”
The only downside walking into grange over sands was easy, coming back was a little more difficult for an older couple as it is up quite a steep hill. Apart from that no problems in highly recommending this property. Many thanks to Graham the owner when we had a slight problem with the internet, which he quickly sorted.- Mr Haslam, March 2019
“Great location just a 10 minute walk into town.”
Initially a bit awkward locating the property on the road as photo taken from behind, but once in....wow! Two proper double bedrooms, good lounge and massive dining room. Modern kitchen and shower room both excellent and superbly presented. Heating had been timed well and very warm. Everything there i needed and was a real home from home. No problem with parking outside and lovely views over the bay from lounge, dining room and lower ground floor bedroom. Would definitely recommend and definitely go back. Not cheap compared to some others, but worth the extra for additional comfort. Nice touch of welcome pack of quality biscuits, orange juice and crisps and loads of plates, cups, glasses, cutlery etc. Congratulations to the landlords and Sykes Cottages in providing first class accommodation. Stayed 27/12 - 03/01.- Mr Garrod, December 2018
“We had an enjoyable stay in this duplex apartment.”
Had pretty much everything needed. Parking on the road outside the apartment was never a problem. Fantastic bay views from the lounge window. Low ceiling height in snug area coupled with 2 steps down to the king size bedroom awkward as 6'2". But would stay again.- Mrs Jolly, August 2018
“We had a great holiday in this lovely spacious house and parking the car on the road outside the house was never a problem.”

About the location
Cartmel 2 miles; Lake Windermere 8 miles; Kendal 10 miles.
The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.
