The property

Developed as part of an elevated house, this well-presented apartment sits in the heart of Grange-over-Sands, with a range of amenities on the doorstep.

Boasting spacious rooms with stylish touches, 1 Flaxford House is suitable for family and friends who wish to come together and explore this magical region.

Situated all on the ground floor, the large sitting room holds a large bay window that offers a view out over the estuary and the ample kitchen possesses a modern tone through its clean white units contrasting the black worktop.

The two bedrooms consist of king-size and twin layouts, with the twin having the flexibility of a king-size layout on request.

The additions of gas fire and large walk-in shower enhance this Grange-over-Sands cottage.

To the front you can find the delightful private garden with a wooden pergola and seating area which would be perfect for some alfresco dining.

You can also catch a glimpse across the town from here.

The town centre is within easy walking distance, making it ideal if you fancy a drink while you’re out at one of the top restaurants or pubs in the area.

A walk up the Arnside Knott is highly recommended and is rewarded with spectacular views across Morecambe Bay and the lakeland hills above and beyond the town.

Alternatively, a stroll along the promenade is also worthwhile, offering lovely views of the bay and a flat surface level which is easy on the feet.

The southern tip of the Lake District has some amazing places to visit; Sizergh Castle and Fell Foot Park being two options, which are both owned and managed by the National Trust.

Further afield you can find the touristy delights of Bowness and Ambleside which can be reached by ferry across the breathtaking Lake Windermere.

A truly special home to explore this fascinating part of the UK.

About the location

Cartmel 2 miles; Lake Windermere 8 miles; Kendal 10 miles.

The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Holker Hall, Furness Abbey, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. There is also the 25 mile Cistercian Way which starts at Grange over Sands. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.
