  • “The cottage was damp and dirty, we'd read the previous reviews so we had anticipated this.”

There was rubbish piled up outside and as we were there for two weeks we talked to the bin men - they won't take it because it is recycling which is incorrectly sorted. We had contacted Sykes three times before we went because the reviews were worrying, while we were driving to the cottage they contacted us about it. But we were already on our way and there are no other cottages available so we spent the first couple of days cleaning. There were two hoovers in the cottage, both were choked up ...

There were two hoovers in the cottage, both were choked up. There were no cleaning materials and not even any salt and pepper let alone a tea bag or a dishwasher tablet. We stayed for two weeks but hadn't been told there would be no cleaner in the middle, no clean sheets or towels. All in all it was disappointing because the cottage is well situated. The garden is sunny but there are only two safe chairs - I went through the seat of one of the others and I only weigh nine stone.
