“Beautiful accommodation set in the heart of Kendal.”

The apartment had everything we needed. Lovely walks in and around Kendal, but so many other attractions nearby that leave you plenty to do if you want to. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to book this gem.

The property

Found in the heart of the bustling market town of Kendal in Cumbria, just beside the incredible Lake District National Park, is this beautiful second-floor apartment tucked away above the streets.

Forrest's Yard 2, which was named after the twice elected mayor George Forrest who used to live here, is a perfect mix of classic and contemporary and is a hidden gem in the midst of this lively town.

Once you are inside this elegant abode, settle within the living room/diner after your journey, finding a nice spot on one of the inviting leather sofas, you can flick on the TV as someone else lights the woodburning stove, and begin to enjoy this lovely property.

Evenings will be spent around the large and grand dining table resting at the back of the room, making the most of time with your loved ones, with conversations over glasses of wine and delicious food.

Prepare your feasts within the contemporary kitchen, fitted with a host of appliances to help you rustle up your recipe of choice, including an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a dishwasher.

Completing the lower floor are the two charming bedrooms and the sparkling bathroom, with both the bedrooms being home to super-king-size beds, you can look forward to settling under the covers each night, with one of the beds able to be made into a twin room thanks to its zip/link features, perfect for different party setups.

Travel up to the next floor and find the final two bedrooms, both delightful twin rooms boasting quality furnishings and sloped ceilings, served by a wonderful bathroom which contains a roll-top bath, perfect for treating yourself to an hour of tranquillity.

Begin to discover the town of Kendal by exploring on foot; take walks along the River Kent, afterwards heading to one of the excellent pubs or cafés offering quality dishes.

On rainy afternoons when you don't fancy trekking across a mountain or fell, wander around Kendal's selection of museums or galleries and learn about the local history and art.

For vast landscapes and beautiful scenery, head to the Lake District National Park, and revel in the unspoilt countryside whether on foot or on bikes, you can easily access many walking routes and trails for all abilities.

Visit Beatrix Potter World at Bowness-on-Windermere to meet Peter and his friends, before discovering the other towns via the water on a Lakes Cruise, and visit the amazing Lakes Aquarium to look at the wonderful array of marine life.

A historic market town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate.
