“We had an amazing weekend staying at Staffield Hall!”

The house was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the owners really had thought of everything. There were dressing gowns to borrow, and little hot tub bags with towels and plastic cups to use outside! The log fires kept us lovely and cosy in the evenings, and the communal living room and kitchen were more than big enough for the whole group to come together in. The house was also easy to find using the supplied directions, with plenty of parking for all our cars. I'd love to stay here again ...

I'd love to stay here again sometime and would definitely recommend it to others - thanks for a great stay!

About the location

KIRKOSWALD

Penrith 9 miles; Carlisle 18 miles.

The delightful rural village of Kirkoswald is situated in the Eden Valley and is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Kirkoswald has two excellent pubs, both serving fine quality food, a 12th century church and a shop and Post Office. The River Eden runs nearby and the area is renowned for its superb trout and salmon fishing, along with walking, cycling, canoeing and climbing. There are literally miles of glorious paths following the river's course, with welcoming spots for riverside picnics and sightseeing. Expect caves and gorges, and look out for the ten unusual benchmark sculptures along the way. The Eden Gorge, between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is one of Cumbria's best-kept secrets, and is well worth exploring, plus the local railway station is a stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain. Brougham Castle, Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England), Hadrian's Wall, the town of Penrith and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away. The stunning scenery of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks are within reach, making Kirkoswald a convenient place to stay.
