The property

Portobello is a characterful, semi-detached Georgian house tucked away in the lovely village of Lindale in the Lake District National Park. This stone-built cottage is located over three floors with spacious living areas, stylishly presented with high ceilings and period details, with a secluded courtyard, suitable for a group of family or friends. When you arrive, park up in the off-road parking spot to make yourself at home with ease. Be welcomed into the sitting area, which features artwork, and plenty of comfy seating alongside the Smart TV, as well as the warmth of an electric flame effect fire. After a day of adventures, gather in the dining area for hearty meals with the gas stove for added ambiance; recipe books are available on the book case for budding chefs to try something new! You'll feel the warmth of underfloor heating on the porcelain tiles while cooking in the lovely, well-equipped kitchen, which includes a range oven, dishwasher, and a breakfast table to keep the chef company. Next door is a convenient utility that can keep boots, coats, and quickly wash walking gear ready for the next day in the washer/dryer. On summer nights, the rear door connects to the garden, which has a courtyard and outdoor chairs where you may enjoy a cold glass of wine. Climb the stairs to the first floor, where three beautifully decorated bedrooms await sleepy heads: a super-king-size zip/link with en-suite shower room, a kingsize, and a twin, all with high ceilings and delightful décor. Start your day with a hot shower in the family bathroom and look forward to relaxing in a well-deserved bubble bath after a long hike. The second-floor games room completes Portobello, allowing guests to unwind with a movie on the 54" Curved Smart TV, a good book, board games or even a game of table football! Start your day with an alfresco breakfast in the garden area while planning the day's agenda. The Royal Oak, a great traditional pub where you can take a break from cooking, is just on your doorstep as well as, children's play area and walks from the doorstep. Lindale is also a great base for exploring the Lake District, such as the nearby Grange-over-Sands, where you can take a stroll around the Ornamental Gardens, dine in quaint tea houses, or take in the views from the promenade. Visit Cartmel to sample the famous sticky toffee pudding and see the well-known racetrack, while Windermere is just a short drive away! Take a boat tour of the beautiful lake, visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction to meet famous characters, or trek up to Orrest Head for breathtaking views. Book a stay at Portobello for a home base you'll want to return to again and again.

About the location

LINDALE

Grange-over-Sands 2 miles; Cartmel 3.6 miles; Windermere 12 miles.

Lindale, a small village situated in the south of The Lake District National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and just a few miles from Lake Windermere, makes the area a perfect holiday destination. Set amidst the charm of The Southern Lakes, this attractive village, with handy gastropub, The Royal Oak, makes an inspiring choice from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area. Just a few minutes drive brings you to Cartmel, a delightful village to wander around, famed for its delicious sticky toffee pudding, 12th century priory, National Hunt race meetings and gourmet restaurants. You could also visit Grange-over-Sands, a charming seaside Edwardian town. Take a stroll on the promenade and return through the quaint narrow streets with some lovely tea rooms and specialist shops including a bakery, chocolatiers, and award winning butchers. The Lake District has so much to offer, there is sailing on Windermere, cycling in The Grizedale Forest, Go Ape Treetop adventures, Birdwatching at Leighton Moss and The Foulshaw Osprey Experience. There are also stately homes at Holker Hall, Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle and a heritage steam railway which runs from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. The Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty is also a short journey away. But leaving the best till last, walking or touring in the fabulous Lake District, with its fells, lakes and tarns is an absolute must, most of which is just a short drive or walk away.
