    • “A character cottage in a beautiful location”

    • “A very nice in-character restoration in which we had a very pleasant stay. Be prepared to duck under the beam over the inglenook fireplace - you will learn, but then you'll forget again! The owner was very helpful when needed. No mobile signal for miles, but that could be a blessing. A surprising amount of walkers and passing traffic for such a remote road, but that was a reflection of a very fortunate week weatherwise. Great countryside and, from the guestbook, we won't be the last planning to return there.”

    • “amazing views wherever you look "home from home"”

    • “although we know the lakes well fell foot cottage was a wonderful homely cottage full of history, it is right beside the start of the wrynose/hard knot pass so single line traffic outside the windows but not a problem it all added to the atmosphere especially with THE LANGDALE PIKES in full view, lots of walks right from the door, it is very rural and picturesque away from everything. We would certainly stay there again, the owners live next door & are both very friendly & helpful the cottage has everything you need”

    • “Delightful in classic Lake District countryside”

    • “A beautiful old cottage nestled in a valley a mile or so west of Little Langdale. As such, it is remote but if you like to be away from a town, this is perfect with loads of hiking from the front door. Very comfortable with wood burning stove to help keep room warm. Kitchen did lack a few basic amenities - kitchen foil, washing up liquid, kitchen tools and such. But, all appliances worked, fridge, 4 burner stove and wahing machine and dishwasher. 4 people might be a bit cramped, but for 2 of us, it was fine and bed very comfortable.”

    • “Lovely comfortable and well appointed cottage but not as quiet as we had hoped as there was a surpringly rather busy road immediately outside. Great for walking directly from the cottage and within a mile or so there was a delightful pub but one would need a torch to get back after dark.”

    • “Cottage with all basic needs in the most beautiful situation. Would definitely go again.”

    Mrs Reynolds, London, May 2018

    • “The holiday cottage is surrounded by beautiful mountains and offers stunning views of the countryside. Great walks at the doorstep. The local people are very friendly and helpful. The cottage offers a good comfort for visitors and creates a very cosy atmosphere. The cottage is very well equipped and is situated in a great location surrounded by lovely mountains, therefore is offers fabulous views of the Lake District. The cottage has got electric heaters and a log burner, but you need to be aware to buy plenty of logs beforehand in order to keep the place warm as it can get very cold, especially in winter months.”

Mrs Supolova Beardmore, Redditch, December 2017

    • “Cosy feature-filled cottage in amazing location. Plenty of walks from the door and fantastic scenery. Comfortable place to relax after a hard-day's walking. Two good pubs within walking distance for an evening meal treat.”

    Dr Buckle, HEREFORD, July 2017

    • “very frendly greeting outstanding scenery walks were definitly straight from the door seven days of pure bliss”

    Mrs Hilton, LIVERPOOL, March 2017

    • “THE COTTAGE IS IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SETTING. WE ARRIVED AN HOUR EARLY AND THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND,THE KEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE FOR US AT 4 PM NOBODY SHOWED UP UNTIL 4.45 WHICH WAS VERY ANNOYING, THE LADY OF THE PROPERTY JUST SAID OH SORRY HANDED US THE KEY AND WENT INTO HER OWN PROPERTY. THERE WAS NO GUIDANCE OR WELCOME OF ANY KIND.THERE WERE VERY LARGE COBWEBS EVERYWHERE AND SMEARS ALL OVER TILES AND MIRRORS. THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY (WHO DWELL NEXT DOOR) DID NOT APPROACH US ONCE DURING THE WHOLE WEEK WE WERE THERE TO ASK IF WE WERE OK. I THINK HER ATTITUDE IS VERY IGNORANT AND RUDE, I WOULD SUGGEST DON`T STAY HERE THEY DON`T DESERVE TO EARN MONEY FROM RUNNING THE PLACE SO SHODDILY. SHE ALSO DOES B&B, TAKE A LOOK ON TRIP ADVISER.”

    Mr Barnes, Nuneaton, June 2018

Regional Information

LITTLE LANGDALE Ambleside 5 miles. The small hamlet of Little Langdale quietly sits in a scenic valley and consists of a scattering of houses and a local pub. The area is separated by the Lingmoor Fell from Great Langdale and is accessed via a twisting road which runs alongside the Brathay River, eventually passing by Little Langdale Tarn and heading to the Wrynose pass, following the path of an ancient Roman road. The landscape is magnificent with many regarding the area as the most beautiful in the British Isles, if not indeed the whole of Europe, inspiring many great poets over the years including William Wordsworth, known for his love of the area.
