The property

A history-enriched cottage found on the fringes of the Lake District National Park, Muirland Heights makes a wonderful base for a family or group of friends seeking a scenic escape.

Sitting at the top of a Victorian Mansion overlooking the beauty of the Duddon Estuary, this beautiful property is hard to beat when looking to explore the Lake District with your loved ones.

Venture up the wooden staircase of your private balcony and step into the kitchen/diner where you will be greeted by traditional style and a host of amenities to assist you in preparing a lovingly-made meal, to be enjoyed together at the dining room in the centre of the room.

Move up to the peasant's quarter on the first floor via the steep staircase and enter into the sitting room where you can switch on the electric fire and truly unwind into your evening on the sofa in front of the television.

Spend some quiet time to yourself in the snug where you can relax on the day bed with a good book in hand or let the little ones enjoy an hour or two of games before settling down to sleep in one of the three well-presented bedrooms.

The property is home to two super-king-size bedrooms, offering zip/link features making the bedrooms into twin rooms upon request for extra flexibility, as well as a further twin room, so the whole group can catch up on their rest in between adventures.

Begin your day out on the balcony for a spot of alfresco dining, before heading back down the steps to explore the lawns of the grounds with your canine companion by your side.

The local area of Kirkby-in-Furness hosts all the essentials including a local store and pub for your convenience.

A short train journey from the village will bring you to the bustling market town of Ulverston, with its Laurel and Hardy museum bringing back pleasant memories, as well as a safari zoo, golf course, a unique glassblower and much more, there's plenty here to explore.

Kirkby-in-Furness is a collection of six hamlets on the Furness peninsula overlooking the Duddon estuary. The village is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. Just five miles away is Broughton-in-Furness which has much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. East of Kirkby-in-Furness is the ancient market town of Ulverston which still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year, including walking and art festivals in the summer months and the renowned Dickensian festival in late November. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world!
