Tucked away down a private driveway encompassed by fresh sea air and pretty countryside lies Cottage in the Hill in Silecroft, Cumbria. This charming annex is ideal for a romantic getaway or a luxurious break with a friend in one of the most picturesque areas of the country. Offering a lovely hot tub, surrounded by a gorgeous drystone wall with fantastic views across open fields, this delightful property is a wonderful base for staying in or venturing out any time of year. On arrival at the cottage, step down through the garden and into the stylish kitchen, fit with all the necessary appliances to assist with your self catering requirements, including an electric oven and hob and a handy dishwasher to help with the clean up. Moving through the property, the living/dining room provides a space for you to catch up on the day's events over dinner at the dining table, before snuggling up to watch a film as the wood burning stove roars gently. When the evening draws to a close, climb the stairs to the bedroom which hosts a plush super-king size bed with a zip/link feature ideal for two friends sharing. From here, take advantage of the fabulous bathroom, home to a gorgeous roll-top bath, a walk-in shower, and a stunningly unique basin which really ties in with the charm of the dwelling, as well as a toasty heated towel rail and a WC. A scenic drive will take you to the village of Haverigg, where you will find a pretty rock and sand beach, as well as a selection of eateries so you can stop for a light bite. Spend an afternoon strolling around the gardens of Muncaster Castle; the bountiful greenery and grand hall welcome visitors year round where you can also enjoy a light lunch in the café. Enjoy a ride of the La'l Ratty where you coulld enjoy a stroll to Stanley Ghyll Force, a dramatic 60 foot waterfall with a deep and narrow gorge. While you are discovering this wonderful area, be sure to take advantage of the Lake District National Park, with its abundance of walking and cycling routes and incomparable landscapes. Millom 4 miles; Broughton-in-Furness 8 miles; Coniston 17 miles.

The small hamlet of Silecroft is situated on Cumbria’s west coast, within the Lake District National Park, less than five miles from the town of Millom and within driving distance of Broughton-in-Furness. The hamlet offers an excellent pub serving food and a riding stable, plus it’s set on the West Coast branch line, which travels up the Cumbrian coast to as far as Carlisle. Just a short walk away is a sand and shingle beach, plus Black Combe Hill is close by, where from the top wonderful views can be seen, and a links golf course is also within easy reach. Millom is close by and offers a number of shops and pubs, as well as a museum, which showcases the town’s history. Broughton-in-Furness, dating back to the 11th century has much to offer the visitor with a cobbled square, shops and pubs, and it’s also a great starting base from where walks and climbing can be enjoyed with opportunities to explore the Duddon Valley and other Lake District fells. Further afield, right into the heart of the Lake District National Park is the beautiful Coniston Water, and Windermere, Ambleside, as well as many other interesting places are just waiting to be discovered.
