    • “what a fab place. its worth so much more than 5 stars. it has everything you could ever want. the only thing I would ask for them to maybe put a lamp in the front room. only home for 3 days when I had to book it again for next year.”

    • “Stayed at this cottage for 2 nights, 6 adults. Cottage was immaculate on arrival, kitchen had everything we needed, having sky was a plus point also. The wood burner in living area was lovely. Hot tub was basic but with a beautiful view. I would say there wasnt enough towela for each person for hot tub and showering, I would take extra towels with us if we stay again. We could also have done with more tea towels. We would recommend this cottage in future and would stay again.”

    • “Lovely cottage but could have been better.”

    • “This is a lovely cottage in a fabulous location but would advise people to think twice if its a group of adults. This property only has one bathroom which is fantastic with a lovely bath and walk in shower (there is a toilet outside). We had 4 adults and one small child and at times a wait for the bathroom. The accommodation would benefit greatly from an en-suit in the main bedroom (plenty of room for one). Cleanliness could have been better, had to wash kitchen items before use, hearth and log burner dirty and big cobwebs in kitchen area. Excellent kitchen with washer, dryer, dishwasher also ironing board and iron but missed the basics like a mop (very slippery floors when in and out of hot tub) and a toilet brush. Also great that towels, robes and slippers provided and hair dryers are provided.”

    • “This was the first time we’ve stayed in the Lake District and fortunately we were blessed with good weather. This place is England at its glorious best. The views are stunning, the locals are lovely and there are so many hidden corners to explore. We had two teenagers in our party who can be quite hard to please but we never ran out of fun things for them to do, pony trekking, high rope climbing through the trees, Ghylls scrambling to name but a few. We left them and went off to sample some of the local tea rooms which were all beautiful. The hot tub back at the cottage was a blessing for the kids as they were a bit battered and bruised after some of their adventures but still smiling. All in all a fabulous week away I would highly recommend it”

    • “Pity you had to replace the sofas in the cottage, as we really prefer reclining seats, but they were still comfortable. Just one little tiny thing - the can opener is worn out and needs replacing! Apart from that the cottage is wonderful, the location is beautiful and we cannot fault them!”

    Mrs Geddes, Watford, March 2018

Regional Information

POOLEY BRIDGE Penrith 6 miles. The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
