    • “Great location”

    • “Stayed here as an emergency alternative to camping. The staff at the campsite were really friendly and helpful. It is good, very spacious and clean. Close to all the places you want to visit and plenty of walks from your doorstep. Shop and plenty of pubs to choose from in the town for dinner. Some bits are a bit basic, no coasters, placemats and i was always brought up not to put hot things on wooden surfaces. We used most of the equipment we had brought for camping such as tin foil, cling film, washing up liquid, scourer, hand soap in the toilets The shower was just about adequate as no pressure behind it. No clothes airer to dry out your walking gear and no radiators as its heated by storage heaters and an electric fire in lounge We have paid similar prices elsewhere and had better facilities. Never stayed in a cottage where you have to strip your own bed and leave laundry in foyer. That said, the bed was comfy, the garden was nice with a BBQ, there is a dishwasher and washing machine and the cottage was spotless. We would stop here again, but we now know what to take with us to avoid an extra shop”

    • “Lovely cottage great location”

    Charnock, Wigan, April 2018

    • “The cottage was lovely; warm, cosy and well equipped, with spacious and very comfortable accommodation. Everything was well equipped and clean, the only difficulties we had were in working out how to operate the dishwasher and the storage heaters; though we managed it in the end, a file with some instructions would have been helpful. Parking was right beside the cottage in a designated private area and the cottage is less than a minutes walk from all of the facilities in Pooley Bridge, comprising of a small but well stocked local shop run by a very friendly and helpful couple, three hotels/pubs which all serve non-residents (The Sun Inn is the pick of these), a small tourist type shop/cafe and a very nice restaurant. Add to this, that this part of the Lakes is as beautiful as Borrowdale but very much quieter and it all adds up to the perfect location for a short break.”

    Mr Bond, YORK, February 2018

Regional Information

POOLEY BRIDGE Penrith 6 miles. The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
