The property

This well-equipped cottage lies within acres of delicate Lake District countryside, nearby to the village of Torver and two miles from Coniston. Originally a barn, this inviting cottage has been wonderfully renovated to provide for quality accommodation for couples in this serene part of the country. The open plan living area consists of the well-equipped kitchen and dining set, along with the comfortable sitting area completed with a flat screen TV and wood burning stove. The tastefully decorated double bedroom is accompanied by the luxurious bathroom that boasts a walk-in rain shower and separate bath. With the added bonus of a large patio area and private hot tub, this cottage has everything you need for an enjoyable break to the UK’s most popular National Park. It must also be mentioned that the property is pet-friendly, so your pooch can enjoy the outdoors too. There are plenty of enthralling pursuits from the doorstep, ranging from woodland walks through Grizedale Forest to the hiking up the fells that display some of the finest scenery imaginable. Just two miles away is the well-known village of Coniston, home to the Ruskin Museum and the breathtaking Coniston Water, here you can make the most of the wealth of activities on offer or simple watch on from the lovely Bluebird Cafe. The cottage is also with reach of Bowness-on-Windermere, offering a range of pubs and restaurants along with marvelous attractions such as the Beatrix Potter Museum. A cruise across Lake Windermere is also highly recommended. Benefiting from the quiet positioning of the cottage whilst not being far from the action in Windermere and Coniston, this cosy retreat is a great choice, any time of year.

Torver 2 miles. These two superb cottages are situated in 110 acres of stunning Lake District fells close to the village of Torver and just a couple of miles from Coniston Water. Located in tranquil and peaceful surroundings, these two Torver cottages have been lovingly converted from barns and provide a luxurious retreat for couples or small families. Both of these Lake District cottages feature en-suite bathrooms, open plan living areas and fabulous woodburning stoves, perfect for relaxing in front of, whatever the weather. Bridleways and footpaths run through the 110 acres of grounds, plus there are numerous streams and plenty of walks right from the doorstep of these Coniston cottages. Guests at these Lake District cottages are welcome to use the grounds for dog walking, picnics, painting, birdwatching or just taking a gentle stroll. Just 2 miles away, along a tarmaced road, is the village of Torver with two excellent pubs and a village shop. Coniston village, nestling under the Old Man of Coniston, is just four miles away and is home to numerous pubs and cafes, plus of course access to Coniston Water where you can hire boats or catch the steam gondola to cruise over to Brantwood. You can enjoy gentle walks through Grizedale Forest or for the more energetic there are a wide selection of mountains to conquer. The pretty village of Hawkshead is forty minutes’ drive away with cobbled yards and traditional cottages, making it is a perfect English village. Renowned as one of Wordsworth's favourite haunts, today it’s known locally as a starting point for exploring the local fells and the Duddon Valley and offers a superb base for exploring nearby Hawkshead, Ambleside and Windermere. Excellent walking, mountain biking, climbing and watersports opportunities are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. Enjoy a leisurely cruise on the beautiful Gondola steam yacht, visit the award-winning village of Hawkshead with its fantastic Beatrix Potter Gallery, discover Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country or indulge in a spot of serene fishing on Esthwaite Water.
