    We visited Ulverston, Bardsea and Coniston which are all within 10-20min drive from the property. Both pubs nearby were warm and welcoming. We definitely will be booking again!

The property

Laurel Cottage is converted from a 16th century Bobbin Mill, it is located in a quiet area close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere and Coniston Water. The cottage is equipped for all your holiday needs, river walks can be taken from the door and enjoy a refreshing drink in the nearby pub on the way back. Sparks Bridge is within 3 miles of Newby Bridge and is 5 miles from the southern tip of Windermere and 2 miles from Coniston Water. It is an ideal location to visit the South Lakes and the nearby Morecambe Bay and enjoy the peaceful country lanes away from the honey pots of Windermere. Close by there is the South Lakeland Animal Park and Aquarium to keep the children entertained and the village of Windermere is only a 20 minute drive. Laurel Cottage is in a row of former workmen's cottages which has been converted from a 16th century Bobbin Mill to provide contemporary, family accommodation which has recently been refurbished with wood burning stove. The stone cottage is close to the river and within a 100 yards of the village pub. You can enjoy a gentle walk along the river or walk to the pub for winding down over a cool local ale.

Ulverston 5 miles; Coniston 10 miles.

The small village of Spark Bridge is a couple of miles away from the village of Greenodd, which has a selection of shops next to th River Crake, whilst just five miles away is the ancient market town of Ulverston. Ulverston is famous for its street markets and festivals, and boasts a wide range of shops and various leisure facilities. It is also home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. This is a great location for a walking holiday, and within driving distance are a number of attractions including, Grizedale, Coniston, Windermere, Hawkshead and Beatrix Potter's Hill Top, as well as the beautiful Furness Coast, with its golden beaches and good birdwatching opportunities. An ideal location for enjoying fantastic coastal and countryside pursuits.
