The property

Enjoy a piece of locomotive history, this former timber Furness railway structure once the station waiting room dates back to 1848 and has been sympathetically modernised into a delightful holiday home with private balcony. The timber clad exterior has been carefully preserved and retains it's chocolate box charm. The Station House is Ideally located on the Cumbrian coast in the popular Village of St Bees which is at the start of the coast to coast walk and just a few miles from the Lake District National Park. A warm welcome awaits you at Station House lovingly decorated to creating a warm and welcoming space. The lounge comes complete with plush sofas, a wall mounted TV and electric log effect heater. Fulfill your culinary needs in the well-equipped country style kitchen where you will find everything you need for a self catering. Leading from the kitchen you will find a family bathroom with walk in shower. The sun lounge with french doors is a relaxing place sit back and relax overlooking the terrace and garden. The spacious master double bedroom has space for a travel cot and the second bedroom offers two comfortable single beds. The village of St Bees has access to a convenience store and a small selection of pubs and restaurants. The village station is a stop on the Cumbrian Coast line with a manned signal box and crossing which is adjacent to the property. The Georgian town of Whitehaven is 5 miles to the North known as one of the gem towns of England and is home to The rum story and The Beacon, stunning tall ships and boats can very often be seen in the harbour. Just 15 miles South you will find Ravenglass a quiet coastal village with narrow gauge railway which stretches for 7 miles to Dalegarth near Boot in the valley of Eskdale. The property is also only a short drive from the Lake District National Park which is host to popular tourist hot spots and far-reaching views. The Station House is an excellent modernised cottage on the coast of Cumbria.

St. Bees is an historic seaside village on the west coast of Cumbria with a Norman priory and Elizabethan public school, as well as a shop, post office and old traditional pubs. It's an ideal base for exploring the western Lake District and Cumbrian coast, and is the start of the famous Wainwright coast to coast walk. St. Bees Head is the only major sea cliff between Wales and Scotland and is the only Heritage coastline in Cumbria. There is a fine beach and many wonderful walks are available along the clifftops, which are also home to one of England’s most important seabird colonies. There is also a nine-hole golf course in the village. Nearby Whitehaven, an elegant Georgian port, and the spectacular western Lakes, are more than worthy of a visit. Muncaster Castle is 8 miles away, as is the Eskdale and Ravenglass miniature railway. Cockermouth, the birth place of Wordsworth, and Keswick on Derwentwater are also within easy driving distance.
