The property

Brampton 3 miles.

Tucked away in rural Cumbria is this fantastic, mid-terrace cottage of Ryecroft.

Within easy reach of a range of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks, including the North Pennines and Kielder Forest, Ryecroft is an idyllic setting for a family of four seeking a countryside escape.

The property is accompanied by a convenient parking space for one by the road, where you can leave your vehicle before venturing inside the charming abode.

The sitting room is a delightful spot, with tasteful décor, along with a woodburning stove for you to curl up to as you watch your favourite Netflix show on the TV.

The kitchen/diner is close-by, when you're feeling peckish, and hosts a fantastic array of appliances within its country-style space, including an integrated oven, microwave and dishwasher.

When the foodie of the group has cooked up a storm, enjoy dinner at the dining table; why not crack open a bottle of wine and raise a toast to this magnificent break?

As the day winds to a close, freshen up before bed in the ground-floor cloakroom, or upstairs in the fabulous shower room; featuring a spacious walk-in shower where you can enjoy a relaxing rinse.

The bedrooms rest on the first floor, both boasting ample storage and iron bed frames; there is a lovely double and a king-size enjoying access to a roll-top bath.

Before venturing out for a day packed with walking or cycling, savour a steaming cup of coffee in the front seating area.

The countryside really is on your doorstep, as Brampton Golf Club, RSPB Geltsdale and Brampton Golf Club are a short drive away; after enjoying a spot of putting or hiking, finish off the day with a hearty meal and a pint at the nearby Blacksmiths Arms.

A scenic drive takes you to Brampton, where you can access more of your amenities in one place, along with the friendly White Rabbit Tea Room, the close-by Solway Aviation Museum and a path leading to the renowned Hadrian's Wall.

Travel further to the bustling town of Carlisle, where a day out with a difference awaits, treat the history buffs of the group to a tour around Carlisle Castle or the Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, before strolling along the River Eden or through Rickerby Park, and ending the day with a game at Stony Holme Golf Club.

There is so much more waiting to be seen in this beautiful region, from picturesque towns, including Penrith, to the famed Lake District National Park and Solway Coast AONB.

For a break to remember, choose a stay at Ryecroft.

About the location

Carlisle 10 miles.

The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
