The property

Situated in the grounds of the owners home, this two bedroom cottage is located in the woods in an area of peace and tranquility and ideal for a relaxing break away at any time of year. Warcop is located between the market towns of Appleby and Kirkby Stephen with shops, bars and restaurants; in the village itself you'll find a convenience store, whilst for additional services, head to either nearby town. The tranquil village in on the banks of the River Eden and is the perfect base for those looking for a peaceful holiday and the area is a haven for walkers and cyclists who will appreciate the quieter country roads and the river is a fisherman's paradise. The Northern Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District can be easily reached for those who wish to explore further afield and the Carlisle to Settle railway line runs from Appleby and Kirkby Stephen. Enjoying a woodland aspect, this timber fronted cottage provides a peaceful hideaway in the woods of Eden Gate, a country house, on the edge of the village of Warcop within a hundred yards of the River Eden and with walking and cycling opportunities from the door. The cottage sits in the woods with rural aspect over the surrounding fields, ideal for a quiet peaceful break at any time of the year.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.
