Calgarth Cottage is a spacious cottage, ideal for a group of friends or a family looking for a central base from which to explore the south Lakes.

Located on the peaceful Calgarth Park at Troutbeck Bridge, you are only a few minutes drive away from the centre of Bowness. Troutbeck Bridge has a well stocked shop, a pub serving evening meals and a petrol station with Spar shop.

Windermere has a wealth of pubs, shops, restaurants and attractions and Lake Windermere and Bowness are only 2 miles away with plenty to entertain the whole family from lake cruises to crazy golf and much more.

Being on the main thoroughfare through the Lake District, Ambleside, Grasmere, Langdale and Keswick are all easily accessible and there are numerous walks that can be enjoyed either from the door or just a short drive away. Calgarth Cottage is situated in a cluster of similar style cottages down a 400 yard lane with a woodland aspect to the rear and horses grazing in the field to the front.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
