“We have twice stayed at Chestnuts Cottage in Windermere and think it is a wonderful home from home.”

It is very comfortable, clean and warm and has everything you need for a great holiday. It is beautifully decorated with some lovely touches and is well situated within easy walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. There is room for parking two cars and the owners are very helpful. Even the neighbours were very helpful when we got snowed in! We fully recommend this cottage and intend to return again

The property

This magnificent three-bedroom dwelling, Chestnuts Cottage, is located in the sought-after town of Windermere in the Cumbrian countryside. The cottage comfortably welcomes five adults or a family of six with one well-behaved small to medium sized pooch. It has a desirable location within the Lake District National Park and is a short stroll from Lake Windermere. It also benefits from off street parking, a rarity in this busy town, a contemporary interior, an elevated patio, and three well-appointed en-suite bedrooms, making it ideal for a family staycation. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen/diner where you may cook and eat meals together as a group and reminisce about the days adventures or alternatively utilise the beautifully appointed downstairs patio for an alfresco dining experience. Travel upstairs to the cosy sitting area with plush sofas and a soothing virtual flame electric fireplace. Open the patio doors on warm days and evenings to enjoy a glass of wine on the private elevated terrace with mood lighting, colourful flowerbeds and planters surrounding it. As the night progresses, discover three roomy bedrooms, including a ground-floor king-size, a double, and a bunk room, all furnished with storage, TVs, and en-suite facilities. Be sure to get some well-deserved rest before another day of lakeside fun. Get ready with convenience in mind, before visiting Windermere and all of its lovely attractions; you couldn’t ask for a better location ! Beresford's Restaurant & Pub and Hooked are firm favourites, and a nearby convenience store is a great place to pick up necessities. Near to Chestnuts Cottage, embark on a hike up to Orrest Head Viewpoint for vistas of the lake, or consider taking a Windermere Lake Cruise while en route to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. When you get to Ambleside, explore the well-kept grounds of Stagshaw Gardens, relax at Stock Ghyll Force, or visit the Brockhole on Windermere tourist centre for a variety of outdoor sports, including archery. Visit the Blackwell Art Gallery and Kendal Museum, displaying the archaeology and natural history of the area or if you'd rather be outside, arrange a hike to the summit of Claife Heights, located within the national park. Enjoy Windermere with Chestnuts Cottage as your abode.
