    • “We really enjoyed our stay at Fairoak. Having been to Windermere before but stayed in a hotel we thought we would try a holiday cottage for a change. The cottage is ideally located in the heart of the town centre and within short walking distance for various amenities including supermarket, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. There is a private car parking space at the back of the cottage which is really convenient for loading and unloading especially with small children. The cottage itself is very homely and spacious. It was clean and has been very well kept. There was plenty of room and it has everything you would expect for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. In particular the kitchen is well equipped including all the essentials, and the Wi-Fi was easy to connect and great to have to enable us to plan our outings. Also, the beds are extremely comfortable making for a good night’s sleep especially as it is also very quiet and peaceful at night. We would definitely recommend Fairoak to others and would also stay again ourselves as it is great holiday accommodation with that home from home feel.”

    • “On arrival in Oak Street, we have to pass the cottage, go up HAZEL street and take the first turning left, the cottage is east to find as are the keys are in the Key Safe. The kitchen is small but well equipped and well cared fore. To the left is the dinning room, again well appointed On the right is the hall door, to the left is the sitting room again well appoihted and clean, next left is the front door, to the rigth are the stairs leading to a single bedroom infront of you, a family shower room to the right. Back to the top of the stairs and up 3 steps to the left is the corridor leading to a twin room on the left and a double en suite in front. Everything is well appointed. However the ensuite is a macerator ensuite so is liable to flooding and the shower does not keep warm all through a normal length shower. It is also liable to flooding. For a holiday let it is adequate for sleeping and eating in, not much else. it is situated at the shops end of Oak Street and has a nice park at the top end. At the bottom (it is on a hill) is a Co Op on the corner with a cafe on the other corner. It is close to the centre of the village with many eateries and a fair sprinkling of pubs within easy walking. There is also a Sainsburies close by. Down the hill to the left of the village are hotels, pubs parks and within 1 mile bowness on the edge of lake Windermere with plenty of ferries to all attrections on Windermere lake. Lovely.”

Clear instructions were issued beforehand and were visible throughout the property re the operation of appliances etc. It is situated in a very central location - handy for restaurants, pubs and shops in both Windemere and Bowness-on-Windemere. It is also only a short drive from many activities located throughout the Lake District. We had a fantastic time and look forward to returning one day.”

This charming dwelling is the perfect family base for exploring its excellent location. Inside this spacious property, you will find a brightly decorated ground floor, boasting a cosy sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen and a charming dining room, each oozing a welcoming atmosphere. Follow the carpeted staircase up to the three well-presented bedroom, comprising of a master bedroom, complete with a double bed and an en-suite, with a walk-in shower, basin and WC, in addition to a twin bedroom and a single bedroom. During the warmer months, you and your loved ones can enjoy the small yard to the rear of the property, as well as off-road parking suitable for one car. Within a mere stone’s throw, you will locate a number of restaurants, shops and pubs to explore, ideal for any holiday amenities you will require during your stay. Moreover, the area plays host to a number of activities and attractions to suit all ages. Such attractions include trekking up Orrest Head to appreciate the breath-taking views of Lake Windermere. Nearby, are further quaint villages of Ambleside, Hawkshead and Grasmere, each playing host to a good selection of shops and pubs, as well as charming attractions to keep you busy. Alternatively, if you are visiting with younger guests, they will be delighted with the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Lakes Aquarium. Fairoak is a tranquil base, a perfect spot for relaxing after a busy day exploring.

Regional Information

WINDERMERE Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 8.7 miles. The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
