    • “Howgill apartment was in a perfect location in the lovely village of Windermere - two minutes walk from all the amenities, pubs, shops, cafes etc. The apartment was very spacious, well appointed and homely. The living dining room has been updated since the photos were taken - painted and carpeted. The kitchen was well equipped but dated. Our only issue was the beds. The double bed was very hard and uncomfortable - I had to sleep on the sofa (which looked tatty but was much more comfortable than the bed)! The apartment was in a quiet spot despite being so close to the town. Key pick up was easy as the office is on the street just behind the flat. Parking is brilliant - an under cover car port in a secure gated car park. This was much appreciated as the streets are very busy. If you are taking a dog, please note that the park directly opposite does not allow dogs. There are lots of other places nearby that dogs are allowed. Bowness (with boat trips etc) is only about 1 1/2 miles away and is in walking distance (a similar distance to Lake Windermere). All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Howgill.”

How glad am I,the place was perfect. Arrived at lake, fished all day, went to the ship and blew the froth off a few and found the digs. Gated secure parking, up the stairs and in. very spacious clean and tidy. If your after the ritz don't bother, but howgill isn't ritz money. For 5 lads it was perfect.ps we had churchills rockin!”

The Property

Howgill Apartment is ideal for anyone looking for a central base from which to enjoy a holiday in the Lake District. Located in the centre of Windermere with private secure parking.
Howgill is a second floor purpose built apartment, situated only a stone's throw away from the centre of Windermere, and a five minute walk from the train station. Windermere is a pretty town which grew around the railway station the town is only a mile and a half from the Lake. Over many years the little gem town became merged with the older lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere both of which retain their original vibrant town centres. A wide variety of water sports, walking and climbing activities, museums, shops, galleries and restaurants await you. Brockhole visitors centre, Ambleside and Grasmere are only a short drive away.
The apartment has electric storage heaters and comprises:

Open plan lounge/diner with TV, DVD player and CD radio.

Kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.

PLEASE NOTE There is a charge of £10 to hire a cot per week there is a charge of £5 to hire a highchair per week. 3 dogs are welcome at a cost of £20 per dog per week. Spa Treatments in the comfort of your holiday cottage can be added to your holiday reservation. To ensure these are available for your holiday, these must be booked and paid in advance.

Regional Information

BOWNESS-ON-WINDERMERE Windermere Train Stain 0.4 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles. The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
