“Great accommodation”
This was my first holiday let booking and it didn't disappoint. I booked 3 nights for my husbands birthday treat with 2 friends. The accommodation was perfect, modern clean house with parking. Very clean and easy to get the key, we didn't see the owner which was fine but we didn't receive the mentioned welcome tray which was a shame. There were down points, the accommodation is apparently 15 minutes(ish) from the lake, I would say it's more 20-30 minutes, Windermere village where the house is is much quieter than Bowness and there aren't many pubs (3 or 4 that we found) 1 was a cocktail bar with lovely food, the queens which was a bit dingy and a couple of hotel bars, in hindsight I would have booked for Bowness and had more variety on my doorstep. Also the few cafes that were close to us didn't do a full English breakfast??? We cooked bacon sandwiches in the house 2 mornings but on the departure day left hungry as we couldn't get a breakfast. The house is a 2 storey flat above a ground floor flat which means you worry about noise travelling below and the house is noisy anyway for a new build, very creaky floor boards, noisy running water and even the sofa creaks lol, also if you smoke outside the front door you worry about noise to the bedroom on the ground floor as well. I don't mean to sound complaining, the accommodation is lovely, but these are all factors that would make me look elsewhere if we were to return to Windermere. I would say book in Bowness to be closer to the lake and have a better form of accommodation.
