  • “Loved the property and its fantastic location being close to most villages and towns.”

The bus stop and shops being a stones throw away was a delight. The property had everything we needed and was very cosy. The bonus was having two bathrooms too especially with four of us staying and we enjoyed using the fire. Our favourite place to sit was the kitchen at the breakfast bar and watch tv, whilst my parents enjoyed sitting in the living room. It's a shame the basement was out of use, but would certainly have used it as it looked great. ...

As an experienced driver, the access path to drive down was OK but it is quite narrow and some may even struggle but we liked that there was an additional parking permit provided to park on the street also. Whilst we kept the property clean during out stay, we noticed it could have done with a thorough clean. There was quite a bit of dirt and dust gathered downstairs, in particular the living room. We struggled to locate the general waste wheelie bin during our stay, it would be good if this was kept closer to the property for future use. We also love to recycle where we can, if there is an option to recycle we would have preferred this too. Due to covid we tend to strip the beds ourselves and place all the dirty towels etc downstairs by the washing machine, it would be good if the instructions had something outlining what to do with bed linen and towels when departing. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cottage, it made our first visit to the Lakes perfect. We would love to stay again.

The property

The Burrow is a charming, mid-terrace cottage reached down a private drive housing four cottages, situated in the town of Windermere within easy reach of many Lakeland attractions.

Flourishing with a light and airy feel with a contemporary design, this homely abode is a great choice for families or groups of four wishing to explore the UK’s most popular National Park.

There is a stylish kitchen/diner with oak worktops, grey units and flagstone flooring, plus a host of appliances to ensure you are fully equipped, and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer!

Unwind on the plush sofas within the sitting room, with an alluring open fire to curl up beside, along with a fabulous Smart TV for entertainment.

As you start to tire, head upstairs to discover the bedrooms, including the beautiful master with king-size bedroom with dressing area and en-suite shower, while there is also a pretty twin which would be perfect for children.

To the exterior of this Windermere cottage is a small shared courtyard where you can enjoy an evening drink following an action-packed day.

When you’re ready to tear yourself away from this charming abode, being local walks from your doorstep up to the superb surrounding viewpoints like Otters Head and Queen Adelaide’s Hill, providing picturesque views over Lake Windermere and the nearby peaks.

Take a cruise from Bowness up to Ambelside, admiring scenery as you go, before taking a stroll around the town and up to the picture-postcard Stock Ghyll Force, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by enchanting woodland.

Take in the beauty of the lakes at your own pace, with kayaks, paddle-boards and canoes available for hire locally, with plenty of organiser offering guided sessions for those less experienced.

For a bit of sightseeing, enjoy days out to Wray Castle, one of the most famed attractions in the area for its Gothic Revival Castle and stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

There’s something for everyone in this thriving Lake District location, and 6 Knotts View provides a fabulous base to explore from.
