Keswick Holiday Cottages
Let Lakes Cottage Holidays plan your next Lake District Holiday in the Keswick area
The market town of Keswick is the north Lake Districts most popular holiday and day trip destination. This idyllic and bustling town is situated between the Skiddaw mountains and Lake Derwentwater. There is an abundance of cafes, bars, gift shops, bakeries and a wide variety of shops. There are many attractions in this area including Theatre by the Lake, swimming pool, art galleries and of course the mountains and fells surrounding this town.
Derwentwater is home to a number of sailing clubs, hire a rowing boat or yacht and explore at your own pace or try out a new water sport including canoeing and windsurfing or jump on one of the launches if you prefer something less energetic. The jaws of the Borrowdale Valley are easily accessible with stunning Lakeland scenery and some of the best climbing areas within the Lake District.
Dodd Wood and Ashness Bridge lead on to Surprise View, where not surprisingly you are rewarded with a stunning view to Derwentwater, well worth the effort. Dodd Wood is also home to the viewing point for the osprey and a must visit for any enthusiastic or not so enthusiastic bird watcher, the sights of them soaring above the lake is a sight to behold.
Keswick is within a half hour drive of Ambleside, 20 minutes of Lake Ullwater, half an hour to the Western Lake District and 40 minutes of Carlisle, making it an ideal base for a Lake District holiday.
