“Troutbeck 5 at Whitbarrow Holiday Village.”
Will start with the positives; Great location, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, everything you need for def catering, pool booking system works well, clean and tidy pool changing rooms, decent bar and restaurant, the view from the jacuzzi is amazing, close to Penrith and Keswick (10-15mins) with lots to see and do within a reasonable drive. Negatives; Cleanliness of the cottage was somewhat to be desired. Ashtray full of fag butts on the balcony, fag butt on the floor under the sofa, light fittings don’t look like they’ve been cleaned this year, upstairs carpets didn’t look like they had been vacuumed before we arrived, despite a 2 floored carpeted cottage there’s no hoover and despite asking for one housekeeping didn’t bring it over. The upside down figuration isn’t required, there’s no benefit as there aren’t any views from the windows. The wi-fi is hit and miss, wasn’t working at all for 24hrs of our stay and when it was available it kept dropping out and isn’t very strong. Needs a smart TV in this day and age. Cleanliness of the cottages seemed to be a common theme with other guests we spoke to. Overall though, we thought the village was ideal for our requirements and a great base for local activities. A new sofa and a bigger smart TV and it would be fantastic, but I guess there’s a reason that it’s cheaper than the neighbouring cottages. We will be back, but with a hoover!
