Why stay in the North Lakes?
The North Lakes area of the Lake District is a beautiful landscape of rolling green countryside, high fells, deep blue lakes and picturesque towns and villages. Choose a cottage in the North Lakes to relax and unwind amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.
The lakes of Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater and Ullswater are great for swimming, canoeing, paddleboarding and kayaking. If you don’t have your own gear then there are plenty of places nearby where you can hire equipment. Walkers can enjoy leisurely strolls around the lakes or scale the many fells, such as Cat Bells or Friar’s Crag.
Where to stay in the North Lakes?
Keswick makes a great base for a family holiday or a romantic getaway. There is plenty going on in the market town - spend a day browsing the art galleries or shops before heading out in the evening for a meal in one of the many great pubs or restaurants. Cockermouth is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, and you can learn all about his life and work at Wordsworth House. Or why not stay in Bassenthwaite? This picturesque village is located close to the lake and at the base of Skiddaw Mountain. There is a wide range of cottages in the North Lakes to choose from.
