“We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage on the river , listening to the sound of the river and watching the herons.”

The cottage had everything we needed, and more. The location was perfect for exploring the lakes. The walk along the river eamont to the castle was great to have right on the door step for us with our dog too. The local pub the Beehive and the Crown Hotel are both dog friendly and do some good food.

“Cosy cottage next to the river”

Stayed here for a week in September 2020. Very cosy cottage, scenic spot next to listed building of Eamont Bridge, with fast flowing river Eamont at bottom of a very well kept garden. Excellent conservatory with good comfy furniture gave us an excellent view of the river and bridge, handy as not the warmest or driest week. Noisy traffic was flagged up when booking, but you get used to it. Good location for travelling about, with many beautiful places within easy driving distance. Cottage is well equipped, and has plenty of pots and pans, even a washing machine and drier in the shed. Good sized fridge, and an unadvertised freezer in the shed. Comfy furniture of good quality inside and out. Big TV, plus one upstairs (couldn't get that one working). Very large and comfortable Super king sized bed. Read complaints about the noisy shower, but you just need to turn the flow up a bit, not rocket science. Enjoyed our stay, despite the weather, but really could have done with instructions and the correct council bags to put the rubbish out for the bin man on Monday (checked detail on line).

“We absolutely loved our time at River Cottage and will definitely be back!”

Perfect location for us as we went exploring and climbed some mountains. We were lucky enough to have a couple of sunny days and the BBQ was a lovely touch! The stream at the end of the garden is so picturesque, it’s honestly a dream. The cottage does sit next to a road that at times can be quite busy, but we didn’t hear any of the passing traffic through the nights! Facilities are great, everything you need. We did a big food shop for our time there and there are a number of supermarkets nearby. Loved our stay!

“A very comfortable cottage with a homely feel.”

Great location by the river with herons, dippers and occasionally buzzards to be seen. Only drawback is traffic noise, which other reviewers have commented on, and we were aware of as we've driven this road several times. Probably worse in the morning when you're half awake and more tractors than usual due to harvesting season!. There was no guidance on refuse disposal/recycling. We have 4 bins at home, there were only two here with nothing to say what should be put in which. It looks like any unused articles which guests have left behind, such as washing up liquid, coffee jars, etc. have just been put in cupboards for others to use, and in view of the virus situation at present we didn't think this a great idea. A fair amount of insects in the conservatory, but in view of the fact we had warm dry weather all week and left the door open this was our own fault! Overall a very enjoyable stay and we would certainly return if staying in the area again.

“Lovely cottage”

Lovely comfortable cottage, stayed for a week with our dog, there was plenty of room for us, the garden is lovely with the river running past the end. We sat in the conservatory when the weather wasn't so good relaxing with a book and a drink. It's well situated to get to Penrith and there's a good pub down the road. The cottage is on a main road so can be noisy with traffic but it didn't bother us. The only downside was the shower was very noisy.

“Beautiful cottage & location AMAZING VALUE”

Reading other reviews it's clear the owners have taken on board feedback given as we were extremely impressed with this well equipped cottage and we use holiday rentals regularly . The cottage is very comfortable and cosy and soon felt like home. There is a lovely village pub serving great food within easy walking distance. We walked into Penrith a couple of times too and it's only 15 minutes! We booked directly with the owner who was very helpful when contacted but also never bothered us during our stay. Staying at River Cottage was cheaper than staying in the Premier Inn by £250- no brainer, WE WILL BE BACK!! Thank you ..

“Second time around”

Extremely comfortable home from home,,wonderful riverside location for Lakes and Scotland ,Penrith one mile away,Ullswater 4 miles. My second visit from Australia to this cottage and hopefully not the last ,Numerous restaurants and local pubs,with a fantastic Superking bed.

The property

River Cottage as the name suggests has a view over the River Eamont, centrally located in the village of Eamont Bridge which is midway between Penrith and Ullswater.

The cottage has a beamed lounge with exposed stone walls and will appeal to couples at any time of year. Eamont Bridge is ideally based to tour the north Lake District and Eden Valley being located only minutes away from the M6 and A66 almost midway between Penrith and Ullswater.

Winding its way through the village is the River Eamont, hence the name, the village dates back many years and has two ancient henges, King Arthurs Round Table and Mayburgh Henge.

The market town of Penrith has a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants along with swimming pool and cinema and Pooley Bridge offers traditional inns serving local ales and food. River Cottage is a characterful cottage that enjoys a superb location on the banks of the river in the centre of Eamont Bridge.

The cosy lounge has beams and exposed stone walls whilst the conservatory enjoys views across the river where long leisurely walks can be taken.

The garden with patio and lawn is the perfect retreat from which to relax on a summers day, dine al fresco or enjoy a picnic next to the river with a bottle of wine. The cottage has gas central heating and comprises: Heavily beamed lounge with gas fire and TV. Kitchen with gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Conservatory with dining table overlooking the river. Double bedroom with super king size bed and TV. Wet room with shower, hand basin and WC. All gas, electric and bed linen included. Private parking. Garden with garden furniture overlooking the river and outhouse suitable for storing bikes. PLEASE NOTE One dog is welcome .
